The food wasn't bad, however, it was perhaps the worst service I have ever received from a restaurant. First off, the initial wait was long, however that was expected. What wasn't expected was once our buzzer went off letting us know our table was ready (table for 5, 2 adults and 3 children), we didn't plan on waiting another 20 to 30 minutes standing in their "on deck circle" waiting for a table. Once we were seated, it was 15+ minutes before anyone came to our table to say "hi, hello, can i get you something to drink." Finally, when we were greeted, it was by a waitress who really had no business doing that job. She asked multiple time what we were going to order, while constantly looking all around the restaurant as if she were waiting for someone to show up. Then read back our order wrong twice. Once she got our order right, it took awhile to get our food, however I was expecting that because it was crowded. Once we did receive our food our waitress disappeared and we never got refills on our drinks. Two stars only because the food was good, not great, but good. Service was HORRIBLE!!!

AWESOME! Having grow up back east, and not finding "back home" bbq in the decades since moving west, I can finally say Bakersfield has REAL BBQ. I was impressed, the service was smooth and efficent. The food was outstanding! Definitely worth the wait, we took a take out menu home with us. I can't wait to have it again!!

A disappointingly underwhelming experience--undoubtedly overrated. My friend & I gave this new restaurant a try for lunch. Things started out well. Arriving around 1:00pm, we were pleased to be immediately seated. The atmosphere and decor was impressive and lively. After being seated, although there were scores of servers scurrying about all the tables around us, we waited almost 10 minutes at our table without being acknowledged. My friend interrupted a server passing by and asked her to please notify our server that we would like to be served. She apologized and proceeded to service an adjacent table, then was back moments later to take our order herself. I ordered a loaded baked potato topped with pork, along with a soft drink, and my friend ordered a sandwich and a beer. The bar server brought his beer, but not before spilling some of it on our table--big oops. I quickly needed a refill of my soft drink, but was amazed that although our server passed us by a few times, she didn't notice my empty glass nor offer a refill. I actually had to ask for a refill to get one, and it took a while at that. When lunch arrived, I was further astonished that my $8 potato that was supposed to be topped with meat, had only about a tablespoon of meat on it! What the heck??? Isn't this a MEAT joint? Where was my pork? Despite that, the potato was actually delicious and would've been even better had it actually had a decent portion of meat on it. My friend's sandwich was apparently good also, but he too expressed disappointment at the smaller-than-expected portion size he received. In summary: Nice place, good atmosphere/theme, seemingly friendly staff although poor service from the wait crew, and value-wise: too expensive for the portions received. Going forward, I'll probably stick with other venues such as Champs, Jakes, Prime Cut, and BJ's where I know the service, quality, value, & experience are clearly a cut above Famous Dave's. Would I go back again? Maybe, but it sounds like they have a lot of work ahead of them as a new restaurant if they want to make REPEAT customers out of those that have experienced their place. Time will tell if they get their act together... They certainly have a lot of potential--would hate to see a place with such a great theme fall by the wayside...

My husband and I went to Famous Dave's on a Thursday night at 6pm. We were told the wait was 30 minutes but we waited 1 1/2 hours only to have our buzzer go off so we could "stand on deck" for an additional 15 minutes while a table was bussed. I expected delays because its so new but nearly a 2 hour wait is too much.
We had horrible service. We had a total of 4 waiters, all of whom were in training and they all kept going on break. Our beverages were brought out with our meal. Our salads came out, without dressing, 10 mintues after our meals were brought. The meals were missing several sides and to get those it was an additional 10 minute wait. I ordered the briscuit, which was delicious, but I was brought the briscuit and the pulled pork, which is more money and not what I ordered. None of our waiters ever attempted to correct any of the problems and never refilled our drinks and no one ever brought out the dressing for our salads despite asking for it repeatedly. When I asked for an adjustment to our bill due to the wrong food being brought and all of the problems I was told to wait for the manager. I waited 1/2 an hour and never did anyone come to resolve our issues.
With service like this they won't be in business long. The food is really good, especially the potato salad and briscuit... that is if you actually get your food correctly!
