Although I'm not a big BBQ restaurant fan, I just had to see what all the fuss was about. Here are a few observations.

Really long wait (that was expected), weird menu (apparently there is no "a la carte" except ribs), and the decor is something like Hee Haw meets Chucky Cheese.

Overall a good dining experience, but in the future I would probably order their take-out and eat at home.

Wow, Bakersfield finally has real BBQ.  I understand some will remain loyal to the Chumps (uhh...I mean Champs) camp, and that's perfectly fine if you like your "BBQ" prepared in a broiler or crock-pot.   I also understand that local Bakersfield "celebrities" like Scott Cox will continue to receive advertising dollars from Champs to try and convince us that Champs is the best, but they don't have a prayer.  FD's make the best pork ribs, bar none.  The brisket is pretty good as well.  Very crowded right now being brand new, but definitely worth the weight.

Great service, great food, great portions, what more can you ask for?  And nobody in Bakersfield can beat the atmosphere that Famous Dave's offers.  Famous Dave's bought and completely remodeled what was the old The Pizza Market near Lowes on Rosedale Hwy.  The great decor far surpasses that of it's predecessor.

I ordered the chicken tenders with mashed potatoes and the "Wilbur Beans."  The beans (which have onions and other stuff mixed with them) were so good I ate every bit of them, even though I normally don't eat onions.  The muffin that comes with it was also very good and moist.

My mom, dad, and sister shared the "Feast for 2."  It is so big it could serve four or more.  We all enjoyed the pulled pork and the fries.  The fries were crispy, crunchy, and hot.  All of the food was very good.

We got there around 3:30pm today and it was only moderately busy.  When we left, it was starting to get packed.  The staff were really nice.

I highly recommend this place to everyone.
