The food is hit and miss* and the beer is expensive, but boy did we have fun! Last Friday my friends and I made a plan to hit Fishlips to blow off some steam, dance, have a few beers, and listen to Mento Buro. I usually do my drinking at Riley's because the beer is inexpensive ($1 Thursdays and all); however, that cheap beer comes with a price: crowds of 20 somethings smashed in like bugs stuck to a windshield.
At Fishlips the crowd is closer to my age (30-50) and dancing is so much fun when Mento Buru (La Murga) or Upground (Sol Azul or Oye Chica) are playing.
Count on seeing me drinking that expensive beer ("But the bar has a granite top!?") and dancing soon!
*I had some kind of dry cheeseburger and great garlic fries

The BB King is my absolute favorite meal at Fishlips. Jambalaya with penne pasta rather than rice. This hearty dish has just enough kick to satisfy my "cajun" cravings. I've never had a bad experience here and the drink selection ROCKS!
Each time I go to Fishlips, I wonder why I don't go there more often. The NO KIDS rule should be instituted in more establishments, some of us have gotten our kids out of the house and want to spend time in a place with other adults.
The live music is great and the jukebox is world class. The bartenders are extremely outgoing and friendly, the new granite bar top is too cool!
I took my girlfriend here for our first date, set it up earlier in the day that flowers would be delivered right after our first drinks. This was a huge hit!! I will definately be back...

In order for a restaurant to get five stars, it has to be way above average.
Fishlips is average. Sometimes the food is good; sometimes it is not. In no way does this place deserve more than three stars. The food I have had there was so bad we sent it back to the kitchen. The shrimp was inedible. The chef agreed and had it pulled from the menu for the rest of that day.
A five star restaurant would never send out food that was bad.
