Since Fish Lips reopened from their renovation the food is better than ever. You can never go worng with the fish and chips, but their blue cheese dressing keeps me coming back for more.

I ate here for the second time last week on Thursday, this time with my parents, and once again enjoyed the experience. I had a Mick Jagger Fishlips (every meal @ Fishlips is named after a legendary rock star/group), which is cod fish and fries. The food had a good taste and the service was decent. My only complaint was that my last piece wasn't very crispy, but other than that my meal was fine. We were the only customers at the time we went (around 5pm) and they did a decent job making sure we were satisfied. And the price wasn't bad, under $35 total (not including the discount certificate I bought from a local radio show that I gave them) for three meals and sodas. I will try and return when I get the chance, which doesn't happen often simply because I don't go downtown very often.
===========================================================
I have only eaten at Fishlips once; on the night they held a concert as a fundraiser for one of my best friends from high school, Nathan Gutierrez. Nathan, who is already confined to a wheelchair due to spina bifida, needs a kidney transplant (which is why the fundraiser was held). I had the fish and chips and chilli cheese fries. The food was good, but could have been better. It seemed a little plain, but was good nonetheless. But the establishment is the main reason I gave Fishlips 4 stars. It is a nice place to go and have a good time at. The music was a little loud, but that's what you should expect when going to a concert.

Went to Fishlips not knowing what to expect. Heard the fish and chips were good but was not in the mood. We started our meal with Bruschetta topped with goat cheese. The thin sliced grilled/toasted bread was very good. Tomatoes were generic, not much flavor. Being topped with bits of the goat cheese scored extra points. Little did we know that we did not need to order an appetizer...
I ordered the burger with 3 toppings, bacon, mushrooms and goat cheese. Burger came with a side of fries that I upgraded to the Garlic Fries.
My darling wife ordered a burger and chose the clam chowder instead of fries.
When our waitress brought out our plates my jaw dropped. This was a good thing as I was going to need the extra room to enjoy this towering burger. Lettuce, tomatoes and pickles completed the package. I like the fact that they offer to cook your burger how you like it. I chose medium and was rewarded with a cooked burger that was tender and juicy. Fresh mushrooms, quality bacon and the goat cheese topping....WOW. This might just take over as the BEST BURGER IN TOWN in my mind (currently #1 is 34th St CarWash). Garlic fries were good as well.
My wifes burger was just as good, but the clam chowder was better than I expected. We both love clam chowder and we compare them all to best ever served which is at Splash Cafe in Pismo. Fishlips chowder was not as creamy but it was very flavorful with a good mix of clams.
We will not hesitate to go back to Fishlips and look forward to trying some of the other menu items.
