After watching Slumdog Millionaire, my friend and I decided to stay on the Middle Easten theme by heading to Flame and Skewers for a bite. We are both vegetarians, so we loved the offering of falafels (aka Vegetarian meatballs) and babaganoush which rocked. We loved the rippled-cut fries but were saddened to hear that there was no baklava until the next business day:( I'll be back to sample the dessert and hookah!

Just got back from a fabulous dinner at Flame and Skewer. I've had Eastern Med food all over the world... including in the Eastern Med, and this was as good as any I've ever had. We had both chicken and beef kabobs and beef shewarma (spelled shewErma on the paper menus but with a middle A on the sign board!) and a Greek salad and thought it was all excellent. The seasonings were perfect, the meat was hot, and the hummus was great. I got a couple of falafels on the side and they had a nice kick to them. Next time, I'll try the babaganoush. My only complaint was the plastic eating utensils and the styrofoam containers, which I hated eating out of. They use the To Go boxes for everything, even Dine In service. The food is great, the portions generous, and the prices extremely reasonable. F&S doesn't have a liquor license, so we ran to the nearby Vons and got some hearty beer, which actually was cheaper than buying it from F&S would've been. Overall, a very, very good experience.

I have been here a couple times for the lamb kabobs and I love it every time. Food is always good and the dinners are huge (at least for me) and healthy. I have rented a hookah from time to time as well and it is always relaxing, although the patio layout is a bit narrow, I usually have to deal with moving my chair so someone can walk by. All in all, its pretty good and I would definitely go back.

LIke the first Flame and Skewers on 24th St., this restaurant features a short menu of Mediterranean style food, emphasis on beef, pork, chicken and falafel. The menu is posted, ordering is at the counter, and food is served in styrofoam containers. The dining room is very nice, larger than the original location. The food is excellent, and for those unfamiliar with the fare provides a good introduction to items like falafel and humus. Service was a little slow on our recent visit, but the food was abundant and good. The beef skewer was cooked just as ordered, well seasoned and tender. The rice and humus were excellent.
