 Happy Jacks is a pleasant surprise to an afternoon out. They have fantastic food, the bacon cheese burger and peanut butter pie is great.

I don't understand what some of the other reviewers what from a burger joint...I mean if you want quiet  go to the library.

I go to a resturant for the quality and flavor of their food as well as their service. 

 I have lived my whole life in San Diego and every time I or any of my referred friends even tread near Bakersfield we all stop at Happy Jacks!! This has been tradition since a soccer trip 20...

 I have lived my whole life in San Diego and every time I or any of my referred friends even tread near Bakersfield we all stop at Happy Jacks!! This has been tradition since a soccer trip 20 years ago and it's always the same, Ruben Sr. and his wife Frances are always the most warm people to see, with Frances' quick wit always waiting for you to get too macho, they have always treated me and my friends like family. 

Their food has been great, love the atmosphere..it's a throwback to the old diner days and the pie is fantastic. There is a loyalty there that you just don't get from other places and that, in itself is priceless. 

Happy Jacks Burgers continue to make the best burgers in town.   I've tried John's Burgers, the 34th St. Car Wash, and Toms;  all of which have their fan club claiming they make...

Happy Jacks Burgers continue to make the best burgers in town.   I've tried John's Burgers, the 34th St. Car Wash, and Toms;  all of which have their fan club claiming they make the best burgers, but none come close to Happy Jacks.  We have taken friends, relatives, and out-of-town visitors there many times, and get back reports from many of them that they in turn have taken their visitors, other friends and relatives there.     I highly recommend Happy Jacks for a fresh, great tasting burger.

I had the Ortega Bacon Cheese Burger and it was delicious. Just what I was craving that day. Apple Crumb Pie a la mode was also excellent. Service to me as an individual was pretty good, but there...

I had the Ortega Bacon Cheese Burger and it was delicious. Just what I was craving that day. Apple Crumb Pie a la mode was also excellent. Service to me as an individual was pretty good, but there is a lot going on so they weren't as attentive as I would have liked.



It was nice going there by myself for lunch because they have the bar and you just walk up. No alone time at a table or booth. :)



There was a disgruntled customer situation that could have been handled better. It was especially awkward for the waitress and owner to continue gossiping and going on about the situation after the particular customer was gone.
