We have gone to Hodel's for three Sunday Brunches in the past two months. While the food (that's available) is good, we have been consistently frustrated with items missing from the tables. Bakery items in particular always seem to be running out and not being replenished fast enough.
Also, labeling of the hot table items would certainly help. Sometimes it hard to tell by just looking at the dish what it is exactly. With a label we'd know whether it's worth a try or not. Unfortanately, we have both had to waste food that wasn't what we thought it was when we put it on our plates.
As far as service goes, the wait staff are pleasant enough, if not efficient enough. I needed a water refill and got tired of waiting. I went to the server's island to help myself and was told (pleasantly) I wasn't allowed to do that. That's ok, but if I'm not allowed to do so, then someone needs to be available to do it for me. The rest of the visit was no problem. They seemed to have eyes to watch us the rest of the time.
The restaurant was always clean and the staff generally quite friendly. A little more attention on customer service and availability of foods would have received better than just a score of 3 from us. In spite of this, I still recommend it to anyone that wants a fair meal for a fair price.

Hello My Name is Jeff Brower,
A few weeks ago me and a group of us who were going to Gleanings in Dinuba Ca. stopped at Hodel's for lunch a few weeks ago and the lunch there was just absolutely delicious and we really enjoyed it very much this was my first time at Hodel's and they all kind's of great things to eat some nice salads as well as great fried Chicken and good roast beef and everything else there was yummy and the service and atmosphere was great and I feel I really got my money's worth while I was there eating. and I also really enjoyed the old time country atmosphere that's what made Hodel's a unique and great place to eat. I am looking forward to getting back there and eating there again. Thank you very much Hodel's for the great food as well as everything else. My e-mail address is optimisticjeff48@aol.com. Hodel's is a great place to go for great food.

Just not what it used to be. Looks like the economy has hit Hodels. Food quality is poor, no choices. Never again. Sorry Hodels..

I feel really sorry for those reviewers that consider this food "just like their home cooking." This is bland, uninspired food thats only purpose is to allow you to pig-out. I have only eaten here twice, but both times I have found the food selections to be very limited, and poor quality. For those reviewers who consider this to be comparable to their home cooking, I recommend that they start watching and downloading recipes from the Food Network. For those reviewers who desire more selections, I recommend they try the Home Town Buffet on White Lane (I would give it two or three stars). And finally, if they are serious and just have to eat at a buffet, I would recommend they try the Flying J Truck Stop about 15 miles up Hwy. 99. For a buffet, their food is usually pretty good.
