Second to third tier italian restaurant in town at best, Sorella's is in desperate need of an overhaul in decor, food and service. From the vinyl white tablecloths to the neon signs surrounding the bar, the entire affair feels like something in an 80's film of what an Italian restaurant is.
We arrived at seven olcock with reservations for three. The hostess told us that they were clearing our table and we would be seated in a few minutes. This was a blatant lie, as she told every group that followed with reservations the same thing. In the meantime, friends of the hostesses, (there were 3 apparently) crowded the entry and discussed breastmilk, their lives and other exciting topics. We weren't seated until 7:45, after a group who had come in behind us was seated before. I asked the hostess what the situation was and she informed me it was because they were saving a special table for us. Charming notion but the special table was like every other one. Maybe it had magical powers that I wasn't able to determine or tap into.
Service from the waitress was decent, she tried hard. The soda was flat and the chicken alfredo pizza was terrible, with grocery store tasting crust and a bland overprocessed appearance. The clientele was underdressed for a pajama party much less an evening out. Overall, I was grouchy after the entire experience, it was subpar and when our bill was over 70 dollars and the experience is that poor, who can expect not to be grouchy.
With the other amazing options in dining in this town, I doubt I will venture to White Lane again anytime soon for this mediocre a venue.

Where do I begin? Sorella's was once a special occasion place for my family and me, you know birthday's and holidays only.
However, the excellent food, the excellent service drew us in and we've become quite the regulars. It's become our Italian Cheers.
The staff makes you feel at home, and the food makes you feel like you've never left home. It's simply fantastic. The Fettuccine Carbonara and the Linguini Cappellini Al Naturale is fantastic, to die for even.
The items are a bit pricey, but totally worth it, they most certainly do not skimp on portions, like some other Italian establishments we've been too here in town *COUGH* Momma Tosca's *COUGH*. The salad is practically half a head of lettuce, the lunch portions can easily be shared by two people.
All in all, I HIGHLY recommend Sorella's to anyone looking for a good Italian cooking in Bakersfield.

We went back again last Saturday, and the whole experience was better than ever.
The minestrone soup was amazing, rich, peppery and flavorful.
I had the Half and Half, consisting of half a plate of Spaghetti and half Ravioli. Pasta excellent and perfectly al dente; marinara sauce mild but artfully tasteful.
Wife had the cheese ravioli'; same experience.
Over the years, Sorella's has done a fantastic job maintaining the atmosphere. We were two of their first customers, and the atmosphere is as clean and classy as it was 18 years ago -- even a little classier -- and we told the waiter so.
We'll be going back very soon. We forgot how pleasant it was.
