BEST MARGARITAS IN TOWN! I have been visiting this locally owned and operated establishment for about 4 months my only complaint was that i could not have a tequila margarita to comlipment the great food, issue resolved they now offer a full bar. Those who havent visited do so and you really need to appreciate the decor and the food trust me its different in a good way. very unique. Great place to have a nice dinner or a good drink. they offer great service and the family who owns it is always around ready to help and accomodate, try the cheesecake chimichanga with the rasberry sauce or the seasonal pumpkin spiced flan. Cant wait to go back and continue to see this new business blossom .........many blessing to the owners and thanks for your great food and service.

Ok, gave this place a 2nd chance. Went there for the first time for the lunch buffet and was unimpressed both by the food and the service. After reading some of the good reviews I decided to give it another shot. My bad. Seriously, does this place have the runniest refied beans in Bakersfield? Although I wasn't crazy about the food, it was edible, the service was awful. I could give the service a break the first time I was there, they were kind of busy. Only this time there was maybe 15 people in the restaurant and not once did I get a dirty plate picked up nor did I get a refil on my soda. The only time I even saw the waiter was when he brought me my soda. Anyway Camino Real will not get a third strike from me, two has been enough.
Camino Real Restaurant's Response:
I regret to hear you had a bad expereince twice at Camino, I will greatly appreciate that third pitch maybe now i can offer a homerun? thank you for your time and we hope to see you soon.

I can't disagree more with these last two posts. My husband and I have been in on three different occasions and were very impressed each time. Their menu is gigantic, with all the traditional Mexican offerings in addition to lots of original and vegetarian dishes too. The food, service, and atmosphere are stellar, and while this place is still getting off the ground, they're doing every thing right.
Let's start with the food. I love great salsa and guacamole, and Camino Real hits a home run with both. Their salsa is bold and spicy, with a delicious chipotle flavor that's uniquely delicious. I was also impressed by their guacamole that had large chunks of avocado and a limey/garlicky kick. Simple, but delicious and mucho yummy.
As for entrees, I've had the combination plate with a shredded beef crunchy taco and a shredded chicken enchilada. Both items were full of flavor and very well-seasoned, and I felt that the portion of rice and beans was more than adequate. Hands down, this was the best combo plate I’ve had at any Mexican place in town. On another occasion I had the steak and chicken fajitas which were very tasty, with delicious grilled onions and peppers. Plus, the portion was so large, I was able to have some leftover for lunch and dinner the next day. Ay caramba!!
My husband is a burrito man, and has been very pleased with the So Cal burrito, as well as the....hold on to your hats....Orange Chicken burrito. Yes folks, this is all the tasty goodness of Panda Express rolled up in burrito form. Talk about a pleasantly delicious surprise. Dessert was great too. We've had the fried plantains with caramel sauce which were sinfully blissful
I also love the vibe at this place. "Drug-dealing in the bathroom?" I'm not sure what to say to that yvettemarie314, other than every time we've been in, the waiters and management have been extremely polite, personable, and helpful. They have live music several evenings throughout the week and special romantic Wednesdays that the hubbie and I plan to go to one of these days. All the dishes were well-priced and very good. We've definitely found a new favorite place!

Disappointing! We had a party of four of us, I was excited to try to eat at a new place. The place was fairly empty, and the couple of tables that were occupied already had their food and conversing with the staff (conversation of drug deals going on under previous management in the bathrooms). I don't know about you, but if I'm going to an establishment for the first time I sure don't want to hear anything like that. Then it took what felt like forever to get our food (possibly due to the awkward conversation between staff and their friends, visiting). When our plates finally arrive we get tiny cups of beans (I think mine was the only cup that was full). The rice was placed onto our plates much like the picture (stuffed into a cup then placed down). On to our entrees, each of us got a 3 entree dinner plate (which priced out to over $11 per person). Everything came back skimpy, the kitchen was obviously afraid to add meat to our tacos, cheese to our enchiladas, rice and beans to our plates. I've spent far less money at other places and the food be overflowing from our plates, not to mention better tasting.
