LOVE! Mama Roomba has a great, fun atmosphere, really excellent food and attentive service. We each had mojitos and ordered a few dishes to share including the Tri-tip, Salmon with Mango Salsa, Wilted Spinach Salad, black beans and rice. Everything was really really wonderful, the spice on the tri-tip was excellent, the Salmon was cooked to perfection and the mango salsa tasted like the mangos had been chopped to order. Great, fun place, a true gem in the Bakersfield restaurant scene!

If you are claustrophobic, stay away! If you are a claustrophobic, foodie, then close your eyes, take a deep breathe, open wide, and chew. Nope, keep going, chew. You'll love this place and feel like you're in an abuela's (Google it) kitchen. Colorful paintings and elaborate draperies cover the restaurant's interior.
Since it is a tiny, packed venue, I felt like I was in the way of the staff as they whisked from one side of the room to the other, prepping for the next patrons to arrive. I guess that would be us. My friend and I wanted to gleefully anounce to anyone who would listen that we were here for our 7pm reservation. Finally, someone noticed us, and we were seated.
We quenched our thirst with the sangria which sweet and just the way we like it. Then we ordered a bunch of tapas or little appetizers listed by order of being the tastiest: 1) calamari, 2) sauteed mushrooms, 3) shrimp, and 4) arepas. The calamari was right out of the fryer and onto our plates but not greasy at all. Perfecto! The arepas were another story. They are the Mexican version of a grilled cheese consisting of cheese sandwiched by two corn cakes. I've had lighter, fluffier arepas at city street festivals.
I definitely plan on going back to dine on a main dish.

I have eaten at Mama roomba a few times, Love it! I also attended the Grand Opening, its a great location, atmosphere, and prompt service. I remember discussing with one of the employees how the food and enviornment remeinded me so much of Cha Cha Cha in San Francisco´s Haight Ashbury. After chatting I learned that Mama Roomba´s inspiration came from what is one of my favorite Restaurantsin the world . Good job guys!!!
I can assure you that my next trip home to visit Family, you will be seeing me!

We have been to Mama Roomba's several times since their grand opening. The food has always been great. On this trip there were 4 of us and we were able try several dishes. The Tri Tip very tasty a little on the tough side but always good. The special was a New York Strip. I'm not a huge fan of New York strip until this trip. Perfectly cooked and very tasty. We also had the Sword Fish which was good but not as the others. If there was one complint which I guess is the reason for not giving this establishment 5 stars was the service. It was real slow, I lady seemed to be doing all of the hosting, order taking, drink delivering, etc etc etc. She would start something and get side tracked and 10 minutes later she would bring your drink. Not a huge issue as we had a great conversation during dinner. This would be a great place for Guy to visit on Diners, Dives and Drive Thru's.
