I enjoyed dining at this Mauricio's. Having read the reviews of its sister on White Lane, I was a little concerned, but apparently they are similar in name only.
I arrievd late, and my party was already seated. Despite the fact that it was a busy Thursday evening, they found a chair for me and made me feel welcome. I have to give the server a break because I am sure she did not anticipate my interruption. She was very competent, if not lightening fast. We also had a chip steward who kept our baskets full of chips and salsa, and our drinks were always filled before they were empty.
My friends ordered before I did, although my plate arrived first. that was a little odd. My carnitas tacos were absolutely delicious, and well-portioned. The beans and rice were pretty much middle of the road, but tasty enough. I would definitely order this again. My friend's Albondigas looked amazing, with huge meatballs, but he said it was a little bland, not spicy like he expects. Interestingly, the only meal delayed at the table was a simply cheese enchilada plate, one you might expect to be among the easiest to prepare. It arrived a couple of minutes after everyone else was served.
We had long finished eating when we could not find our server to give us our tickets. One of our party went to the cash register, but they told him to return and wait for her. This was a small problam because he had to leave for an urgent appointment. One of our party ended up paying his check so he could go. It was several minutes later when we finally could leave with our checks. That part was a bit annoying. This is the reason I deducted one star.
