To the best of my knowledge, ownership at McGee's recently changed. I hope this does not alter the quality of the food; however, the last time we dined there the food we ordered was not as good as it had been previously. The spinach artichoke dip was flavorless and the portion small although we did not care to finish it. The other portobella mushroom appetizer was OK but nothing exciting and it was on the cold side. This was just prior to the "nightclub switchover" so we will give it another try and see what happens. I hope the new owner will focus on quality food and service. I worry that the nightclub will be the focus especially if it drives the profits.

We have been to McGee's twice in the last two years. We can't stand it more often. The food is good and the service is adequate. But, the music - get a clue, please. When you cannot sit at the table and hear each other with shouting there is something wrong. Having the music is nice - but not starting at 7:00 p.m. The music is a distraction from the restaurant unless you are a late night diner looking for good food and entertainment. We will not likely return unless we understand this simple to fix management problem has been resolved.

Every visit is better than the last. From a nice wine list to entree choices you don't normally see in Bakersfield, it is a treat to dine at McGee's. My husband loves the Elk chops and the pistacchio encrusted salmon is to die for. Presentation is always above average. Keep us the good work. I feel this is one of only 3 truly exceptional restaurants in Bakersfield.
