This Mexican restaurant is by far the best in town. We've been going there for about 8 years. Their menu has basic Mexican dishes you would expect, but obviously is homemade with authentic flavor. The service is always excellent, the food fresh and hot! I usually order the #1 or Esther's Delight which includes a chili verde taco and a chili relleno with special sauce. It's amazing with the jalepeno's on top. My wife gets the cheese enchildas with onions or the enchilada fresca. The Margarita's are by far the best in town. The atmosphere is inviting, relaxing and romantic. The prices are good. The waiting area is decorated according to the seasons or holiday and the host or hostess are ready to serve you.

We don't often eat at the Mexicali, partly because BFL has so many friendly little Mexican restaurants that do a good job. On a recent weeknight visit I was impressed once again with their service. Perhaps we had the best server in the place, but everyone appeared to be hustling and getting the job done with a freindly and competent demeanor. On service alone, I give this restaurant very high marks. The food was good, not the best in town, but good. The chile relleno was quite good, and the enchiladas and tamales above average. The salsa served with chps didn't amount to much, It seemed to be based on canned tomato sauce.  All in all, for good service in a nice atmosphere with good food and a moderate price, the Mexicali usually does a good job.

I am giving this 4 stars. the food is 2 star (good but nothing amazing) and a 6 for the cadillac margaritas.... There is nothing better. I have brought people from all over the country and world...

I have brought people from all over the country and world there just for these VERY STRONG drinks... and all have agreed... there is no margarita better on the planet.... TRUST ME I am a professional drinker....
