What is the Running Camp?
The goal of Building Better Bodies Runners Camp is to create a Group Running environment where almost anyone can improve their level of fitness and their running ability, and learn to incorporate running into their very own Fitness Lifestyle. Our Running Camp will be coached by Paul Anderson. (former triathlete and current High School and collegiate running coach) along with myself and a few competitive local runners.
There are several courses available in the Camp, designed to accommodate virtually any fitness level. The Beginner 5K, and the Intermediate 10K courses are designed for novice runners, or experienced runners returning to running after a layoff. Both courses are based on the Run/Walk method, and each course is 8 weeks long, 3 days per week, for a total of 24 sessions. The camp will be held at Yokuts Park unless designated otherwise. The days are Tues and Thurs at 6 AM and 6 PM and Saturdays at 7 AM
These courses may be repeated as many times as desired (a new tuition is required for each repeat) before moving up to the more extensive training of the Advanced Half-Marathon training course, and Marathon training course. The Advanced classes both run for 16 weeks. Participants must be 18, or over, to enroll in any of the Running camps unless otherwise authorized by Building Better Bodies Fitness.
Brief course descriptions:
Beginner 5K
Previous running experience is not required; walkers are welcome. You must have the physical ability to begin an aerobic exercise program that is based on walking and running.
There are four levels of progression designed with a safe and injury-free method of running/walking. The course will cover basic running techniques, stretching, nutrition and hydration needs and prepare you to run/walk up to 5K distance and to consider moving up to the next course, INTERMEDIATE 10K
INTERMEDIATE 10K
Pre-requisite is three, or more, months of running experience or completion of our Beginner 5K course. The course covers a review of the basics from Beginner 5K, adding to the fundamentals of running with an emphasis on form.
You will also receive an introduction to balance and core training techniques. In this course, you will increase your endurance, become a more efficient runner, and be prepared to run or run/walk up to the 10K distance. Successful completion of this course will prepare you for the next level, ADVANCED ½ and Full Marathon
ADVANCED Half and Full Marathon Pre-requisite is 16 weeks experience, or completion of INTERMEDIATE 10K course. Training in this course includes longer, sustained running and a strong emphasis on core exercises to improve balance and strength. These courses are both 16 weeks long.
