Well I would have sworn that I did this before, as I have eaten at the Pantry for many years...It was the first place my Wife and I went to upon arriving in/to Bakersfield.. It used to be rather a fun place with pretty good service and food...I waited a few weeks after they got a bad health review and had to  clean the whole place up, from top to bottom, I hear...Well I went in the other day, a Tuesday about 1 PM..not a busy time..I got there a few minutes after 1, was 5 or 7 minutes before I even got coffee...then when I finally got to order the SPECIAL (which should take less than 1 minute to dish up) of the day for lunch..it took till 2 PM to get my order..the veggies were right next to cold,,,, other than that... is was pretty good...It always gets me when a counter person walks by my empty Coffee cup 7 to10 times and does not offer to fill my coffee cup...and they "expect" a TIP???? Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I did leave one, as my regular waitress was friendly and has a great smile..what can I say?

I went after they re-opened last week, and was really disappointed. It was so cold that I had to leave before I finished my paper (I love to read over breakfast). The meal was so-so; the chili verde was not spicy, and the verde was not in the eggs as an omelet but on top. The eggs were rubbery and not satisfying at all. Omelets to me have the ingredients inside, not on top. This was not a good experience and I won't go back. Donna Kay's won over this place hands down.
