I have always heard fairly decent things about this place.  I must say, I was very disappointed.  When our food finally arrived, two of the orders did not.  This took quite some time to rectify.  The waitress never refilled our drinks and never brought toast for the breakfast I ordered.  Even when asked, still no toast.  One of the breakfast entrees came complete with a long hair in it.   It's too bad the food and service was awful because the atmosphere of this place is very unique.  I will not return.  There are too many other good places here in Bakersfield.

Glad they have some great food to go with the great view..  A slab of Ham, is a full slab, not a half slab like their next door neighbor... Just wish they had a bigger counter for us single seaters... and a bigger night time cleaning crew, as that is a big job, with all the people they wait on everyday, and all that old stuff hanging on the walls, hehe   Keep it up, I will be back. PS: ~JBoy needs to be eating at home~  and! Someone did not have Shelly for a Waitress it sounds like. She is off on the Weekends I believe. To bad, as She is soooooo good.

Love the food, love the atmosphere, love the waitresses (especially Shawnel). Whenever I am feeling lonely, I go there and I feel like I am home. I have had just about everthing on the menu and found everything great and seldom do I finish the whole plate.  If you miss a good old fashion coffee shop that serves the whole menu all the time, then this is the best place in town. Go to 24th street for foo-foo fluffy food. Go to Pappy's when you want to EAT.

A group of my friends gather every Saturday and "Pappy's" rates at the top of the list. The waitresses there are more than friendly and make this old-time restaurant a pleasing place, to dine and converse! I think "J-Boy" wouldn't be happy, if he was hung with a new rope!

This place is funny. The decor is all old stuff. The glasses don't match, the tables aren't always level, and the photos on the wall are old Kern County. The food is pretty good; the portions are huge. Eat there for breakfast and you won't be eating again until tomorrow morning. The food is decent enough, the servers are friendly. On the weekends, it is always packed after 9 am.
