I am not a handy person. Not with household things, and certainly not with things automotive. While I'm sure there are many folks in town who would gladly and easily find a leak in one of their car's tires and patch it themselves, I am not one of those people.
So, I needed to get a slow leak in one tire repaired and stopped into my neighborhood Pep Boys this morning. I've taken both of our family's cars there before, and the service has been fine. But I'm reviewing them today because of what happened just now.
I don't know if it's because they saw a guy roll in and out of their office with a stroller and a sleeping baby into the building heat of the day and felt bad for me or what, but when I went back to collect my car, they handed me my keys and said have a nice day. I said, "What do I owe you?" And they said not to worry about it, just come back when I needed service.
You know what? If it's not something that really has to be taken care of by a dealer (a proprietary system or something), I think I will.
