I tried Phine's for the first time last Friday, and it was a delightful experience.  The food was outstanding and the owner was charming and provided excellent service.  I'm not big on southern style cooking -- or so I thought!  The deep fried catfish was wonderful with yummy homemade tarter sauce, the black eyed peas were smoky and tender, and the peach cobbler was fresh right from the oven and heavenly!  This place is a little hidden gem and I plan to go back regularly.  I hope readers of this rating will give it a try -- you'll be glad you did!

Absolutely wonderful food!!! I've heard good reports from coworkers and had to try this place. The catfish fillets were outstanding, light and moist with a crispy corn meal breading. The fried okra tasted fresh and had a similar crispy coating. I was surprised to get cornbread in the form of a pancake, but it was delicious and a fun change of pace. My sister avoided catfish in the past, but tried it for the first time today. She loved it, along with the black eyed peas.

The decor is simple and the dishwear mismatched, but the great food and warm, friendly service make you feel like you were invited to lunch at a friend's house to enjoy favorite recipes handed down for generations. The owner even kicked in a free sample of their ribs hot off the grill... We'll order those next time.

My husband and I have had a hard time finding a restaurant in town that serves good catfish and okra... one of our old favorite places changed hands and has gone completely down hill. I'm so glad we found Phines!
