Although I consider Red Robin to be a bit overpriced (most adult meals are just shy of $10), they have good food (I love their fries), and it's a great place to take the whole family. It's definitely kid friendly and their kids menu has many options, even for the picky eaters. Unfortunately last time I was there, they were out of crayons for the little ones. Of course they didn't actually tell us they were out. We had to ask. In fact, I was a little disappointed with our waitress. She had to be asked a few times for simple things like a refill on a drink.
I will say that their "secret sauce" on their regular cheeseburger is a little strange. Next time I would probably either tell them light sauce or none. They should also offer to give you a choice of bun with each burger. Other than that, I would have to say I recommend.

Red Robin is a restaurant chain that puzzles me. I've never been able to quite figure out the basis of their success. Maybe you have to drink alcohol to appreciate it? Or maybe some people just like a burger that is terribly over priced? On our most recent visit to Red Robin (and visits are not frequent) I had the Royal Red Robin Burger. whicn has a fried egg, along with bacon, American cheese, and regular trimmings. That should add up to a rich and tasty burger, but somehow the total was just flat and dull. I wasn't sure what went wrong to make so little of a $10 burger, but it just didn't add up or come together. The fries served with the burger are "steak fries" which is to say they are thick and mealy, not very crisp nor well browned. I can't fault their steak fries, they are as good as most, that just sin't very good. Ketchup is definitely called for. My wife meanwhile had the Caesar's Chicken Wrap, which she considered OK. Since there are lots of places to get very good burgers and very good wraps for about half the cost of Red Robin, I am still puzzled by the continued success of this chain. Perhaps it is the mall location, or the trendy setting (is this really still trendy?), and the idea that a burger must be good if it is severely overpriced. I don't know. The service was adequate, but not especially attentive. My soda was refilled when empty after a slight but tolerable delay. But again, at the $3 price range for a 12oz glass of soda, it just seemed like the refill service, and the whole experience, should have been prompt and attentive, something more than so-so and adequate. For my money, if I want a $10 burger, I'l go to one of our dandy local no-chain places and have excellent $5 burgers twice instead.

I usually enjoy Red Robin. I try to avoid going there during rush seasons like Xmas and back-to-school when the mall is full of hungry shoppers, because the wait can be interminable at those times. However, the food is good, portions are decent, and the service is generally friendly. They do try to make you happy, and special ordering is not a problem, (hold the onions, etc.) I really like the onion straws (not onion rings) that they put on the Bleu Ribbon Burger, and they will bring you a side of those if you ask! They serve steak fries that are just average, but you can get as many fry refills as you like, a nice option for heartier appetites.
I ordered the bbq pork sandwich recently, and it is highly recommended. The meat is moist and there's plenty of it, on a steak roll that is soft but firm enough that it doesn't fall apart in your hands. The BBQ sauce is just sweet enough to compliment the meat. I'd have that again any time. I have also enjoyed the garlic pasta on occasion.
I don't drink alcohol, but my friend ordered a Mai Tai there recently and said it was very disappointing. Instead of using pineapple and orange juice, they substituted sours. It was not very good. They do have a list of micro brews that differentiates them from many local eateries, and many cocktails come in weird oversized glasses that I am sure add fun if booze is your thing.
