Response to amlynam:
First, I must apologize for the repeated mistakes made to your orders. I must admit that try as we might, sometimes we are not the best at getting special orders made correctly, and unfortunately, it seems to happen often to the same people. I hope you will give us another chance to get it right for you. I realize it can be extremely frustrating getting home, only to realize that you cannot eat your meal.
We did change our meat vendor to a California based meat company called Saags ( www.saags.com). After repeated problems with our Boars Head vendor, and after several months of taste testing, we decided to go with Saags, a top of the line meat provider, which has the same, if not even better, standards of quality as Boars Head, and are priced no less. We will never sacrifice quality. I would be willing to say that we spend literally double the cost for our meat and cheese products than almost all delis in town. Most delis will not carry a quality product like this, because it is so cost prohibitive for them.
Our portion size of meats on sandwiches has never decreased in the 10 years we have been doing business - Not once! As a matter of fact, we have increased portions of meat on several sandwiches over the years – (Reuben, pastrami, hot ham). Our meat is sliced fresh every morning, then weighed and wrapped to the same specs for 10 years running. It is a time consuming process, but helps give the customer a consistent sandwich every time. A meat portion may occasionally look smaller due to compaction, but the weight should be the same every time.
Once again, I hope that we can improve our level of service to you, and we will do everything we can to make sure it happens.
Thank you for your business.
Sincerely,
Jeff simpson
Co-owner
Sequoia Sandwich Company

Ordinarily I love this place, but if you have a special order, it is almost always wrong. I have tried ordering in person, by fax and tonight over the internet, where the directions are very clear and IN WRITING- they even have a place for you to put your notes - but yet again, my order is wrong. I did not want anything special, just three items left off my sandwich, that's it - no lettuce, tomato or cajun sauce ( HATE the Cajun sauce). Not difficult. The place was virtually empty, no legitimate reason for a lack of accuracy. This happens to me at ALL of the Sequoias, ALL of the time going back 8 years. Same error, same sandwich, 8 YEARS. Of course I did not find the error until I got home, my fault for not checking it before I walked out the door. One thing about Sequoia though, if you call them on their error, they will send you the credit ,although it doesn't fix the inedible meal I have right now. I am sure either the husband or teenager will eat it. The only other thing we have noticed is that the meat portions are shrinking and it is no longer Boar's Head brand meats - still tastes the same.
