A friend suggested we eat here for lunch recently and I was so impressed! I didn't really know what to expect, especially when I discovered that lunch was a buffet. I am not really a buffet fan. I put tiny little portions on my plate in case I hated anything. Not only did I not hate anyting, but I couldn't believe how truly delicious the dishes were. The curry chicken was divine and I had a much larger second portion. They have family style dining at long tables so it's a great option for large parties. I will definately eat here again.

This is one of the best Indian buffets I've tried, bar none. I especially like Sunday brunch because they have goat curry. Goat dishes are often hard to find since they have a small (but loyal) following. The naan here is freshly made and served piping hot. I eat here 3 to 4 times a month and have never been disapointed.

First thing first...I Love Indian Food. The flavors, textures and spices are amazing. I introduced my darling wife to the cuisine and she describes it as a flavor party in your mouth. I have also had the opportunity to eat in many Indian restaurants in Los Angeles and San Francisco, both high end (Zagat rated) and low end (Tandoor-loin area in SF).
Taj Mahal can hold it's own against some of the best I have had. I recently took my wife to dinner at TM. The Papadum's (thin crisp lentil flour wafers) were not as peppery as I remember (or like) but they were still good. We ordered the Vegetable Pakora's for an appetizer. These are chunks of vegetables that have been dipped in a gram (chickpea) flour batter and deep fried. They were perfectly spiced and cooked crispy crunchy.
These were followed by Basmati rice, Chicken Tikka Masala, Shrimp Masala and the Garlic Naan. The chicken tikka masala was flavorful, spicy tomato cream sauce with large tender cubes of boneless whitemeat chicken that had been marinated in yogurt and cooked in the Tandoor oven. The shrimp masala had 8 med to large shrimp in a spiced onion gravy. The shrimp tasted very fresh and were not overcooked. The rice was a perfect partner to these entrees and the garlic naan was fresh, warm, puffy, buttery and garlicky all at once. Dipped in the sauces...MMMmmm it does not get better than that.
You may be wondering why I don't give TM 5 stars, the reason is $$. Compared to the many other places where I have had great Indian food it is overpriced. But when I haven't had to travel for work (or when my wife gets her Indian Jones on {pun intended}) we head over to TM for good food.
