St. Patrick's Day 2008--What a disappointment!!!!!!!
This restaurant boasted on the local news and in the Eye Street section of The Bakersfield Californian of being the "it" place for your Irish festivities complete with bagpipers, dancing, and authentic Irish cuisine. What they conveniently left out was the lazy staff, and fake, money-making owner Manny's need to smooth their utter need for business and lack of caring waitstaff for KGET news staff rather than assure all patrons are cared for. Manny thanked his lucky stars there was really anyone there. They didn't even have Guiness on TAP!!!!! UNFORGIVEABLE! Their menu was crap and overpriced...no one was there to begin with...it took over an hour to be seated and there wasn't a crowd to begin with. There should be something to say if this place has to have caller ID when you call for a reservation that you really didn't need in the first place--perhaps the creditors are who they should really answer to. Our waitress was ditzy; it took her 40 minutes to bring us our salads/soups/bread and only after staring a blazing hole in another waitstaff's face and raising our hands for service--there were a total of 3 waitresses, a sous chef and a head chef to serve three tables. The head chef talked most of the time he cooked on his cell phone, which we could clearly see from our table. The bagpiper played a total of three songs in the three hours we were there, not to mention wore the same IRISH tshirt from the 6am newscast. It smelled badly of water damage and dim lights were probably there to mask what you didn't want to see had made to your plate as a stowaway appetizer.
Another hour after ordering finally our food came to us. The corned beef had to be sent back because it was first of all a meager portion but most of all cold and unappetizing. The filet mignon was charred beyond recognition but still edible (better off going to Stuart Anderson's or Tahoe Joes). Don't pay $39 for the Tuscan Filet Mignon because it seriously wasn't worth it...the mashed potatoes were shoved under the bone of the filet and the veggies were drowned in olive oil they couldn't save you from a heart attack after eating this meal.
The Bangers and Mash seemed pretty reasonable and the chicken pasta seemed the only generous portion one in our party was able to enjoy.
The staff was completely moronic...after we were served the chef was putting on his jacket to leave, the waitress went to fold napkins and almost forgot to give us our check, then left before we could give her our money When we decided to leave she said goodbye before we could remind her we needed to pay. Plus, as we were leaving, they sectioned off the exit with someone's old science project backboard--GHETTO!!!!!
Nonetheless we paid and the waitress still didn't get that a 0 tip meant that she didn't get jack from us that night. I felt sorry for the cow who'd been massacred for my meal, the corned beef portion and the pig from which the bang from bangers and mash was from.
I wanted to start my profile just to inform Bakersfield and to anyone else reading this that this restaurant is utterly disgusting, revolting and slowly sinking in to the looming pit of bankruptcy.
