I have been 3 times to Moo's - twice I had the Arugula salad (oh, what a yummy taste sensation!!) - I mean....where else can you get Arugula? Who even knows what that is?? I thought that was super cool - the fact that Moo had that salad on the menu! Love that funky cheese in there and the sweet nuts - and though I am not crazy about dates....they fit in that salad perfectly!! GREAT!! One time I went during lunch time with a friend - we split a Blue Hamburger (I think it was called) and the Arugula salad - it was split in the kitchen! I won't do that again. I think you get more when you get the big bowl! The hamburger was good - no complaint here! But - at lunch time....or any other time there are customers waiting in line to order - 2 registers should be open. People take maybe too long to order, but the choices are so divers that customers can't decide and ask lots of questions. One suggestion: I have seen the owner walk around greeting people - it would be so helpful if she would talk to the people standing in line, explaining the choices! May help the complaints about long lines. As far as the long wait for the food - is there more room in the kitchen for additional staff?? I agree that one should not stand 15 minutes in line to order and then wait for 25 minutes for food! Not good for the lunch crowd!! BUT - KUDOS to the owners for wanting to used Kern County grown produce whenever they can! Think about that people when you complain that there is no tomato on your hamburger (which at this time of the year probably comes from Mexico) - I would rather eat what's in season and support the local farmers!!

My husband and I went to Moo Creamery on a Wednesday evening and found the place was not that busy. Which is why I would MUCH rather go to dinner in the middle of the week. It was our first time visiting and I had a hard time deciding if I wanted the Mexican Border Burger or the Date My Chorizo Burger... My hang up was the madjool date spead. Our server was kind enough to let me sample the spread. And it was DELISH!! So I got the Date My Chorizo burger and the Hub-ster got the Mexican Border Burger. Both had a very well balanced taste of flavors. We actually enjoyed the atmosphere and we were greated by the one of the chef/owners (which we thought was pretty darned cool). As with other reviews, our table was small but we cleaned up as our dinner progressed so it wasn't so bad. During our meal I had noticed they had a brussel spout soup and the soup du jour. I asked our server offered us a sample of that. From a person that would TOTALLY get grounded for not eating brussel spouts, this soup was really good!! The ingredients are all good quality ingredients, and we also admired that it's owned and operated by local folks, that hire local college students and support the local grocers/ag farmers.
Bottom line: our service was good, we liked the relaxed atmosphere, we DEFINETLY got was we paid for and kudos to those all about local support!! We found ourselves a jewel.

Hubby and stopped in for lunch on Sat. 1/31 at 2:30 for lunch. We found the place packed and were warned the wait for food was 1 hour so we left. We returned on Monday night 2/2 about 5:30 pm. The place was almost empty but by the time we left was about 1/3 filled. The staff were all very nice and seemed to enjoy their jobs, we were not impressed with their skill or knowledge. We were very disappointed in the food and the ice cream. We spent $29.98, plus tip for 2 root beer floats ($4.75 each), 1 patty melt (with 50/50--1/2 fries, 1/2 onion rings), 1 sloppy joe at $7.50 (additional $1.50 for 4 onion rings). The root beer floats were good but small. The vanilla ice cream was excellent. The float was served in a glass I guessed to be 8 oz., maybe 12 oz but I doubt it. At the time we ordered we were told we would be given extra root beer. The floats came first then as an afterthought the server brought a decanter half filled with extra root beer.We guessed it to be about 6 oz. We thought that rather skimpy, how much would it have cost them to fill the decanter? It was at that point it became obvious that this place was going to watch portions and measuring servings very closely. Our food arrived in a timely manner. Hubby had the patty melt and felt it was just okay, nothing more, nothing less. It took care of his hunger. He thought the fries were too salty due to the coarse salt used. We both found the onion rings nasty. At the time of ordering we were assuredthey would be crispy. Not true, the rings were soggy. It was as though the cook put the rings in the oil before the oil was hot enough so the coating just soaked up the frying oil. We pulled out the onions and pushed the coating aside. My sloppy joe had excellent meat but there wasn't enough of it when combined with the thick bun. I mostly tasted the bun. The proportion of bread to meat was way off. It was obvious the same skimpy portion control was carefully measured and controlled. The menu listed shredded cheddar cheese on top. I estimated the cheese to be about a teaspoon, barely there. The amount of cheese was not enough to add to the flavor of the sandwich, the bun just overwhelmed what could be a great sandwich. Both sandwiches came with a tiny cup of 4 or 5 slices of pickle. These pickles were excellent, probably the best I have ever had. The menu reminded us of the food at Knotty Pine with Knotty serving better food at cheaper prices. For ice cream treats we'll stay with Dewar's for taste and value. As a comparison we spent $25, plus tip on Friday night at Chili's and hadWe wish Moo Creamery luck but we won't be returning customers.
ps. Have had this review ready for weeks but had to establish account since it is my first review.

A bustling place that borders on chaotic. Service was very slow. Granted, it was busy, but it took approximately 35 minutes to get our lunch. It was a bit off-putting to see that certain tables had an "in" with the owners and/or staff, and were offered lots of free samples and extra attention. The food was good but not outstanding, especially considering the price. We probably won't go back.
