Kubyertos serves Filipino food in a fast food cafeteria style, similar to the Panda Express model. Food is presented on a steam table behind glass, and the customer picks from what is there. A combo with 2 entrees and steamed rice is $5.99, served on a simple disposable styrofoam plate with a plastic spoon and fork. The restaurant is open for dinner, but just barely. They close at 7:00 and being a "mom and pop" operation, they don't keep stocking the trays with fresh food as closing draws near. Consquently, there were only 3 entrees available when we stopped for dinner at about 6:15. All three were good, but there is a larger variety to choose from earlier in the day. Of course they do take out as well. The dining room has good practical wooden chairs and tables, and the Filipino cable channel airing on a big screen TV. We haven't tried the breakfast menu, but it looks intriguing and I hope to have the opportunity to give it a try soon. For now, Kubyertos is Bakersfield's best Filipino restaurant.
