We eat here at least once a week. The service is awesome, the entire family likes it, and the salsa is good (could be a litle hotter). I love the chile verde here! Highly recommend.
We went when they first opened and the service was horrible. All the same issues as others have written about. We finally had to get up and go over to the bar to get ourselves a drink. Chalked that up to being opening week. Next visit they weren't too busy and we thought great we can get some service this time. Wrong. Once again it took 10-15 minutes for our waiter to realize that we were there. Saw our waiter so little we couldn't remember who he was, and we had to ask...
I've tried thier finger food platter and their enchilada combination platter. Both were really good. Margaritas there are delicious. I have been to many places including the caribbean, and these guys are in the top three with the margaritas...
I ordered the tamale and enchilda this time. Last time I think I got Chile Verde. Both times things were excellent. I like the taste of the spanish rice. Also, try their drinks if you have a chance.
Sure, it's a lunch spot by day, but it's a bit too well-lit for a bar after sunset. There's little uniqueness about this bar with its simple tables and chairs. There's a pool table, jukebox and lottery ticket machine. Bartenders don't discourage smoking and many patrons light up.
Heidi's brings another great sandwich shop to Bakersfield. The Salmon Melt and Chicken Pamesan Sandwiches are both wonderful (These are the only two I have tried so there may be other wonderful sandwiches on their menu). They also have very good breakfast burritos. Heidi's is a great choice if you want a sandwich that is a little different.
I still love this place, even after several decades of dining there. The food is great and the hospitality is wonderful to see in these days of fast food and bored servers. Highly recommended.
This is a good deal if you are in the mood for Mexican food. They have very tasty, traditional dishes and their combinations (basically 1, 2 or 3 items with rice and beans) is a great deal. I usually order an enchilada and a taco (beef). Their salsa is very good, not too hot but just spicy enough. That is one of my tests for a good Mexican restaurant. Recommended.
Bella Cafe is really close to my work, so I have been a handful of times. The service is quick and friendly. I haven't been that impressed with the food quality, but I keep going back and trying new things. Most meals range between $5-$8 for sandwiches, salads or casseroles. The decor is kind of this European country style that I mentally redecorate everytime I go. I think this place has a lot of potential, but just hasn't found its groove yet.
Haven't had sandwiches from the store, but have purchased many loaves of bread to make our own at home. This is the best bread ever! We are absolutely hooked on our Saturday bread run at Great Harvest. So glad to have a bread store in town.
Good food and good place for the family. Like their pizzas and their restaurant is a good place for kids.
I LOVE Dr. Johnson & her staff! I always giggle when I walk into the waiting area of the office though since they have about 5 rescue cats that live in the hospital and are eager to greet all of the new cats that enter. Serenity Cat Hospital is the creme de la creme for cat care locally in my opinion. Dr. Johnson and her team are extremely dedicated to their patients and the rates are a bit less than I have found at other vet offices locally. Recently, one of my...
Not only is the bread good but the meats and extra's are fresh. Large tomatos are just like they were picked. The owner and staff are great.
I remember going to Caesar's on the east side quite a bit back in the day. Nothing like their pickled tongue sandwiches. Today, I usually get a tongue sandwich and a roma. Both of them are very tasty and just as good as when we used to have them. Recommended.
Great food. Like the steaks. Don't forget to try the fried chicken too.
This place is definitely great to eat some pizza. This would probably be one of my first stops to grab a nice huge slice of pizza, and when I say huge I mean it. They have gigantic slices of pizza, and I recommend if you order their biggest pizza, that you have at least 10 people or more eating on it. Their pizza is probably one of the best in Bakersfield! You definitely get what you pay for.
This place was really good! While the food was a bit heavy, and a little goes a long ways, every bite was tastey. After being tired of much of the same stuff all the time when going out, Cuban Flavor offers totally unique items, and all of it tastes wonderful. It can get a bit pricey if you're looking for something that's more of a fast food price. But then again I guess you get what you pay for. The pricing probably could be compared to Baja Fresh, may a bit more expensive. Though, I think...
Fetch! Pet Care is very professional and knowledgeable about our special needs dogs. They have gone above and beyond our expectations in caring for our pets when we've been away numerous times. Their daily written reports are a nice touch! They have been very reasonable with their fees. I highly recommend them. We in fact have scheduled additional services with them in the near future.
This restaurant is one of those out of the way places that has no frills, hearty food. I like going to these places where there are no assumptions and the priority is on the food. Sabor Cubano is a converted fast food restaurant that is offering awesome Cuban selections, especially the sandwiches. I often go to Florida in the summer and when there, load up on Cuban sandwiches which have their own unique taste combinations. It's a savory sweet combo, with an...
All I got to say is you go for the bread. It’s so good and can best be described as “goooie” when it enters your mouth. The meats and toppings are all fine and dandy but what makes this place stand out is the bread. The sandwich entered my mouth as one entity but when it hits my lips it began to break down into a delicious waterfall of taste. I hear someone’s tummy rumbling. The daunting appearance of the long line and the noise is all worth the wait and the high probability that you...
I've been a fan of Bill Lee's since the "TV Special" was put before the camera on Don Rodewald's "Afternoon Show" back in the day. The place still has the best American/Chinese chow in Bakersburg.
My sister and I have been to Thai Taste a couple times. We anticipated their opening since the sign went up a few months ago. When you walk in, they have a couple tables in the front and more seating is set up down a long aisle. On the times we went, they didn't have anyone in the front of the restaurant to seat us, so we walked in and seated ourselves. Their menu is about 3 pages with alot to choose from. They offer stir-fry, curry, pad thai, house specialties, and...
Consider yourself Old Bakersfield? Luigi's is a must if you're pursuing that iconic definition. Luigi's is my constant standby for a delicious, high quality ingredient sandwich. I'm a sandwich guy. If I could date a good sandwich, I would. Luigi's has two of my favorite sandwiches in town: #1: The Luigi Sandwich Varieties of salami and ham with mustard and salsa, onions all on a hard Pyranees roll. Somehow manages to leave you feeling satisfied, full and still that freshness as if...
WE LOVE LUIGI'S! We usually end up going for lunch and it is quite a tasty lunch. It is pretty busy during lunch but when you step in their be prepared to go back in time. The memories on the walls are great to look at. The food is very consistet. Try their sandwiches, all great, but of course pasta and noodles are very good. I love their little bread, cheese, pepper, sandwiches too. That bread is tasty and a good little appetizer.
Me and the family love going to this place because of the food, but the value is quite good too. The last few times I have visited, we have tried to order a few different dishes. (We usually ordered the family-style dinners which basically is about five main dishes all served in the center of the table for everybody to share). We are fans of their kung pao chicken and steamed beef rice. For appetizers, we usually get an order of fried shrimp and BBQ pork (sometimes both). Anyway, for the...
Love this place and their sushi. They have recently exanded with more room for teppan cooking. If you like teppan and steak and chicken and rice, then try it. Taste great. However, I go for their sushi, which is about average price for sushi and comes with some good cuts of fish. Their rolls are good, too
I've gotten to sample a few of their menu items and I believe that most of them are very good in the traditional sort of way. I like Mexican food and being from Bakersfield have tried quite a few restaurants. I would encourage you to try the beef and chicken dishes and make sure to get the enchilado-style combinations.
I visited Camille's sidewalk cafe not knowing exactly what to expect. the layout is nice and inviting but there is so much going on I didnt know exactly what to order. I decided to order the wrap sandwich and some soup. I eyed the desserts, but didnt have a chance to order one. THey have the standard selection of drinks. Their sidewalk cafe is a terrace area in betwen buildings and provide some level of shade, although I am not sure how it is on a hot day. My wrap was delicious and had...
We love the food here. My husband is an italian from New Jersey, whose mother was born in Praiano, Italy, and he says this food is just like mommy's. The only thing lacking is sometimes the service.
Some of the rudest laziest people in the world work at this restaurant. Last weekend they were out of ice cream. Fine. Happen to go back on Tuesday. Finally had ice cream. Ordered 4 of the Oreo Polar Swirls. The girl was extemely rude throughout the transaction, ending with her tossing the cups on the counter and walking away. Also, this restaurant is ALWAYS messy.
My family and I have been to Heidi's 3 times. The 1st time was a Sunday morning and we ordered 4 breakfast burritos to go......perfect food and service. The 2nd time was a week later and we ordered 2 breakfast burritos to go. The burritos were missing the potatoes, and being that we lived in Shafter, we called and spoke to one of the owners who took our name so that next time we could get 2 free breakfast burritos. About 2 weeks later. on a Sunday, we went in to...
This is now the "Fusion Teriyaki Bowl". This is now, also, the best place to get a quick Chinese or Japanese lunch. Their portions are generous, and the food is usually prepared at the time of order. In addition to the usual Chinese fare, they also offer sushi rolls and a Bento Box japanese meal with a really good tempura. An excellent restaurant and a wonderfully freindly staff. Even when my friend had a problem with his meal, they addressed it quickly and didn't shine him on,...
They just don't really try here. The staff is, at best, indifferent. This is just a place to swing by and pick up a bucket of average, overpriced chicken. God help you if you get behind an A&W order, or need to make one yourself. The chicken can be kept, and it seems that this results in a "Suprise, we have to work!" issue when they have to fry up a hamburger or make up a chilidog. That said, if you want a rootbeer from a tap, A&W places are the way to go. The rootbeer is...
The restaruant was attractive and well laid out, but the openness of the bar area to the larger area of the dining section meant that once the game started, the noise carried well. The food however was atrocious. I can, in all honesty, say I have had better meals from Banquet's TV dinner line than the cheese enchiladas that were served. If this is how they present their simplist fare, I shudder to think how the rest of it was. My mom had the fajitas, which were drowning in sauce, the...
Nikki is a great trainer she knows what she is doing and is a great motivator.
Man all i can say is that the hide out has very very good food check out the veggie burger 10 stars
I've been there once and the service was great and the food was good. However, I wouldn't call it authentic Thai food like some of the reviewers are saying. It's more Thai influenced. The server (Danielle) did a great job explaining the menu items and when asked made some suggestions. The food was good, but I'm not sure if it's worth the price. For $22, I had the pork chops with risotto. There were two thin pork chops and a tiny amount of risotto. Both were tasty, but one of...
This place is great. We have been four times and everytime we had a different sandwitch. Their bread is to die for and all the ingredients are first class. You really get your money''s worth. Make sure to try the carrot cake it was yummy and so moist. I highly recommend this. No comparison to any other deli sandwitch. All the employees are so friendly and efficient. Cudos to the management for training them so well. Go try it..
I've been to Heidi's once and don't see any reason to go back. We had the Italian Submarine and Cajun Turkey with Avocado. Both were average. The line was long, but moved pretty quickly. The service was adequate and given this is a new place, it's understandable that the workers are still learning the menu and what goes on the sandwiches. The sandwiches are big, but it was mostly bread and not too much meat. In fact, we left most of the bread in the...
Just another sanwhich shop. Sandwhichs are huge but nothing special. Side salads tasted like what you get at the market in the tubs. Again nothing special, This is not a real deli-try Art'z in the valley for a taste of a real deli. Too bad because we need a real deli here in Bakersfield, not just another sandwhich shop
My family ate Heidi's to go last night. We had the meatball subs. Although the sandwich was so big we all ended up tossing out our second halves (we should have split them between 2 people) the taste was just average. However, the coleslaw was fantastic. We will defiantly eat there again.
My girlfriend and I recently visited Jake's, we arrived at about lunch time, 1:00 or so. It was tough finding parking, seeing with did take separate cars, there is very limited parking, especially during a lunch rush. I, personally, thought it was going to be crowed seeing the amount of cars in the parking lot. As we entered, there was a line that was about to the door, and it was too bad, look as if most people that were parked had already been seated. One thing I...
Unlike some people that just have to always be negative i thought that heidi's was a great place to eat, everyone was very nice and the sandwiches were much bigger than i expected i recommend them to everyone and honestly havent heard a negative thing about them til i read comments on here but everyone is entitled to their own opinion, with that said I recommend this place to anyone who wants a good deli sandwich
I was very impressed with the decor as I walked in. It also looked very inviting on the exterior with a patio for outdoor seating. When I looked at the menu, I was impressed with the variety of selection available. The server at the counter greeted me with a friendly "Welcome to Maui Pho, how can I help you?" and also offered to help me out with my choice since I was a first timer. The set up is like a fast casual restaurant; you order at the counter, take a seat, and the food is brought out...
Wasn't going to review Heidi's because my opinion is just average but seeing all the great reviews, I had to at least throw in one dissent. I've been to Heidi's twice, because they do have good hours for grabbing a deli sandwich in the Northwest. Here are my two experiences: Round One: Asked for sourdough bread, girl helping me said they were out, then asked me what sourdough looked like. I described the concept of sourdough the best I could when she proceeded to say...
Yes, I have to admit that the decorations of the this place are ugly, but the food is really good. The service is very good in my opinion and I have always have special fondness for the salads.
The entrees are good, but that's about it. The starter that preceeds the meal is anything but. I mean some of them like the cabbage soup are okay, but the beans, pasta, and fries taste as if they came from Vons across the way. I think the meals to me are bit overpriced (although you do get a lot of food). However, the main courses are very good. The fish is always good and the garlic chicken is great.
The China Bistro is better, but Bamboo Cafe is cheap and you get a lot of food.
The service is okay and the food is better than the average Mexican restaurant. The Chorizo nachos are a very good appetizer.
After hearing rave reviews about their bread the quality of their sandwiches, I had to try this place out. So a friend and I stopped by right before they were about to close. They close rather earlier and don't open too early either, how do they get buisness?! Anyways, I ordered a turkey sandwich on their flatbread, a friend of mine had recommended it to me. As I looked through the menu of about 12-15 sandwiches, it seemed they didn't have much to them, and I was...
