While the food is pretty good, the prices are high. And for prices that high, one would expect decent service. But alas, the service is really horrible. Between the four of us, we ordered chicken strips, a cold ham sandwich, and a side order of bleu cheese fries. Doesn't sound too complicated, right? It took about 25 minutes to receive our food, and it wasn't very busy. (There were waitresses cleaning windows to stay busy, if that provides some evidence.) ...
I went there for the first time today. I ordered the pesto sandwich on sourdough. It was good. Not great, not bad, but decent. All that the sandwich had was was tomoato, provolone cheese, and a pesto sauce. I think it could have been better if they threw some lettuce and grilled onions on there. The fries that came with it were very average as well My dining mates each ordered the chicken taco salad. They looked pretty gnarly. There's plenty to choose from on the menu. ...
I have always loved the fish n' chips from Westchester Bowl and have never had a problem with their service, until today. I guess there is a first time for everything. My co-worker went to pick up the food on her lunch. We had ordered three orders of fish n' chips. She requested to have the receipts, they forgot to put the receipts in the bag, and forgot one of the orders completely. So we drove back to Westchester, quite a nuisance, got our third order that should have been with the...
This is my family's new favorite burger stop. We've been there 4 times now. The burgers are large and come in many varieties. The steak fries with a touch of seasoning salt are excellent as well. I especially love that the children's or junior burgers as they call them, can be ordered on buns w/out sesame seeds (my kids don't like them). The service is fantastic! The employees in there are working their tails off, so remember to leave them a little something extra! It is really...
Tom's Famous has refurbished a location that has been a drive-in burger place for about 40 years. Still small, the refurbishment nevertheless has produced a dandy "Greek" style hamburger place, in the same vein as John's, Leo's, Golden Ox and several others around town. The menu includes the wide range of burger options typical to this style of restauarnt, and in two wisits our family has not been disappointed. The service is surprisingly fast, the food was very good, including a...
LIke the first Flame and Skewers on 24th St., this restaurant features a short menu of Mediterranean style food, emphasis on beef, pork, chicken and falafel. The menu is posted, ordering is at the counter, and food is served in styrofoam containers. The dining room is very nice, larger than the original location. The food is excellent, and for those unfamiliar with the fare provides a good introduction to items like falafel and humus. Service was a little slow on our recent visit, but the...
Fantastic!!!! It is absolutely the best Mexican food in town!!!
Great food, very convenient.
5 stars.great smog shop.really fast and the price was great.I got in an out in no time at all. However they have move to a new location. 1705 columbus.it was in the new Lowes shopping center next to Tire Pro's, which is also a great place.
I have had chronic back problems and pain for many years. My back has never felt so good after I started seeing Dr. Keith. He is the first chiropractor I have gone to that has taught me exercises and ways of strengthening my core muscles to help me with long-term relief from my back pain. Dr. Keith and his office staff are very friendly and professional as well.
La Rosa Fruit Bars & Ice Cream, Inc.
I just discovered La Rosa Fruit Bars and they are wonderful! They really taste like fruit and are a great way to cool off in the Bakersfield heat. I can't wait to try all the flavors. My favorites so far are the Lemon Lime Fruit Bar and the Coconut Cream Bar. Next...I try the Pineapple. It's a great idea for parties and you can even rent the push cart. Thanks for making such a wonderful product.
While I love Narducci's family style menu, my biggest complaint would have to be the lack of air conditioning. It can get downright muggy while you're sitting there, and while they try to remedy it by opening the doors, this just lets flies in that keep landing on my food. I will always go back for the pickled cows tongue, french fries, bleu cheese salads and chicken, but I hope they do improve a little on the service. While always friendly and helpful, I can sometimes...
I had lunch at the Kilt on a Sunday afternoon with a friend. While waiting for her to arrive I wanted a cocktail, but my server was nowhere to be found so I went to the bar. I was ignored by the two bartenders for a while until a busboy notified them I was standing there. When she finally got around to me, her greeting was, "what's up." She wasn't outright rude, but not too friendly either. I paid $7 for an Absolut cocktail, not really overpriced...
This place has the best smoothies of all time. They have a great texture, consistency, and the flavor is like an insane non-stop party in your mouth! And they are good & healthy for you. The owners and staff are super friendly and will stop to take the time to explain any questions you have about the boosts. I tried the Passion Punch smoothie and will be back for more soon.
This is the best of its kind. Great food that is original and very fresh and terrific service. I recommend the namesake sandwich, The Sequoia.
Everything about this place is great, quality food large portions and great service. Makes you never want to eat at those chain stores.
By far the best smoothie establishment in town, Not only are the smoothies packed with flavor, but the servers never fail to be friendly and helpful. I'm hooked!
I had the buffalo chicken wrap and garlic fries and watched the SC game on Saturday. It's the only real sports bar in town. The cute girls are just a bonus.
Don't vote on burgers 'til you've tasted Fishlips! Try the spicy chicken tacos w/ sweet thai sauce. Fill up with the lunch special fish & chips ($7 incl. drink). And... you get treated like an adult ! A very cool place for lunch in Bakersfield.
I have eaten at ALL of the Sushi Restaurants in Bakersfield and many in Japan when I lived there for two years. I believe that Azul has the best refined sushi from here to L.A., I would place Tokyo Garden at a close second for traditional sushi. All others are what I call Victim of Bakersfield sushi restaurants. Azul may have short comings in the service department but if you really want a good "refined" roll, go to Azul. I recommend The Azul Roll and the Hawaiian which is sugar...
How is it that all of Bakersfield doesn't know this place has the best burgers in town?? We've been going for years - with and without a carwash - or you can get them to go. Parking can be a bear but even if I have to walk down the block, when I'm craving a cheeseburger, there is only one place I think of. Hand-made patties, all the ftixin's, fresh REAL bacon, bread & butter pickles, and thick sliced american cheese. The fries with seasoning salt are a great...
The Tilted Kilt? More like the Wilted Kilt. I think the company requires their women to have at least three tattoos and have been to into drug rehab. While I hate to be superficial, the women are beat. Oh yeah, and the food is bad. The Wilted Kilt. Man, I'm funny.
My absolute favorite lunch stop. Their sandwiches rock! My current addiction is the philly cheese steak, not to mention the strawberries and cream for dessert Fresh ingredients, fast servce, clean atmosphere. This is a must try if your visiting Bakersfield.
I don't get this place at all... the foods bad, service is bad, it doesn't seem like it knows what it wants to be... and the weekends are ridiculous, once was enough... the staff needs to learn how to treat customers at night. And come on, bottle service in Bakersfield? I'd rather drive a few hours to a real bar. Seems like a place for posers and golddiggers.
I love this place. The sandwiches are very generously sized (huge actually, one is enough for two people). A good variety of choices, different breads, fresh ingredients. You never have to wait too long to place your order, and there is always a table available in or out. Its the best place to find a sandwich downtown. My 10 year old loves the baked pototoes too.
The owner's idea is a good one. The bakery is clean and neat. There is an area to sit outside as well as inside, but the assorted options for what kinds they offer are few (I guess we were just expecting more kinds) Also the 2 cupcakes that we had bought were old. When my husband and I bit into ours the frosting was stiff, and the cupcakes tasted as if it had been sitting there for days. Perhaps we may have just been handed an old batch, but we will not be going back any time soon.
This place is great! The food was wonderful, and the wait staff was pleasant and accommodating to my wife, our two little sons, and me. The chicken and waffles is better than Roscoe's in LA. The sides were all very good--we had the macaroni and cheese, greens, dirty rice, and corn bread. The iced tea was always full. The fried chicken was tasty, piping hot, and juicy. I'm going back again!
We have been going to all 3 shops since each of them have opened. Without a doubt FANTASTIC!!! From the decor, the FRIENDLY staff, and the GREAT quality of the products(especially Gary's choc. cake & the browinies)...............A really great dining experience.
Without a doubt one of the best delis in town. Service is always first rate, the portions are healthy and the staff friendly. Despite an earlier review, I have never had a bad service experience. On the contrary, the staff always seems upbeat and friendly even when the place is packed. The tuna melt and signature Sequoia sandwich are delicious.
My wife and I have been customers for as long as Sequoia Sandwich landed in Bakersfield at least a 1/2 dozen years ago. We've been to all three deli's and the food and service has always been exceptional across the board. There are days when the line is at the door, but they make every attempt to waist no time in getting you your order. I've ordered online several times, and my order is always waiting for me (I like the fact that you do not have to go...
I love this restaurant, and have been eating there from the day it opened. For a recent celebration we did take out and everything was fabulous. Excellent service, these folks always treat us right. We had the succulent guacamole dip and chips for an appetizer. I ordered the Molcajetes DE Cameron~a spicy intriguing blend of steak, chorizo and shrimp, from which I made two meals. My husband had the beef fajitas and loved them, also making two meals~ what a deal! Go,try and enjoy!

AWESOME!!! I do not like waffles but these were great with the fried chicken. I also had the dirty rice. Other people in party had macaroni and cheese with waffle. The last one had hot links with dirty rice, blackeyed peas, and cornbread. Our plates were empty. Good service. Pleasant people. Willing to answer all my questions about their food. We will definitely be eating at this place many times in the future.
The food is absolutely wonderful. The service couldn't be better.. I think I've died and gone to heaven. You guys keep it up and as soon as I can, I'll start eating there all the time. Tim Hicks
Olive Garden Italian Restaurant
We have been solid customers for over two years and go at least once a month. Sometimes 3-4 times in a month. We love the service, the staff, especially Diane is friendly, courteous and professional. We always feel welcome and are well taken care of. Diane knows our order as soon as we walk in the door. Our favorites are the fonduta, melted cheese and bread, no compaints here. We also enjoy the pasta y fagoli, manicotti, ravioli and the occasional Mai Tai. The gelato is...
I work downtown and normally go there. I happen to be shopping at Target and stopped in and got the same wonderful service and food as Downtown. This place is great. The hard part is deciding what sandwich to order. Today I tried the "grilled" cajun turkey and it was fabulous. My friend had the cracked pepper turkey and that was also great. Don't forget their zap chips and a cookie!
My company has been ordering from Sequoia Sandwich Co. for years now. It is the favorite of everyone here. They always get our order right and they are very pleasant. The cajan turkey is great. Some other favorites from the office our the French dip, Turkey dip and the Sequoia Sandwich. I always love getting a small side salad too. I believe they make them fresh daily (I think I asked once). The macaroni salad is great. And then there are the chocolate cookies and chocolate...
Solid food, great crowd, good pricing. The women that come in to visit are just as good looking as the employees. Can't beat that. I will be there on weekends to watch football for sure!
Olive Garden Italian Restaurant
I'm want to be totally honest and admit that I've never liked the Olive Garden. However, for some reason, several family members love this restaurant. On our last visit however, we all came to an agreement that we would not go there in the future as a group. We had reservations for our party of 7. When we arrived (on time) we were told that there would be about a one hour wait. After about an hour and fifteen minutes, we inquired about how much longer it would...
Olive Garden Italian Restaurant
We went here just last Tuesday. We were seated pretty reasonably quick, they were not that busy. There was 5 of us. The waitress came to the table and all of could already tell we were headed for disaster. Her attitude was really bad from the start. But we order our food. She brought out the salad and soup first and some bread. There were 5 of us... and 4 of us were having salad. She brought ONE salad for the four of us with our dressings on the side. The dressing was only half full in...
Same thing happened to me last night. I went with a few friends to check this place out and we ordered a round of drinks. When the check came there was 2 rounds on it and an appetizer. The waitress was less than helpful ... the manager had to take it off.
I went over there for my B'Day this past weekend to see what the fuss was about at this place. I just wanted to have a few drinks and believe me, the service wasn't good at all. Just like another review on this site, I am a "boob man" and was NOT impressed (but then again, TK is not Hooters). My biggest complaint about this place was that when I checked my bank statement a few days later, my waitress took her own liberty and doubled the amount of my check. I still haven't had this issue...
Like everybody else I read the hype and had to check this place out. It was BAD. The restaurant was dirty for starters. The wallpaper was coming off the walls, the tables were covered with trash and the floor was extremely dirty. Our pizza was burnt on the bottom. When I brought this to the their attention I was told it was because it was from the fire brick oven. Sorry but I got to call bull**** on that one. We go out for pizza at least once a week and a lot of the places we...
They have the best fajitas in Bakersfield! Also I highly recommend their Bufadora Burrito, its enough to feed two people and the variation of meats makes your mouth salivate.
Don Pericos Mexican Restaurant
I did like the atmosphere but not the food. I ordered the ranchero burrito and my boyfriend ordered the enchiladas suizas. With the order of most of the dishes on the menu you also get your choice of a soup or salad. I chose the tortilla soup, it was too salty, but my boyfriends salad was really good. The entrees were bland and we took like three bites and got some to go boxes and took the food home. (it's still in the fridge!). We wont be going back.
I am not one to review or crticize a restaurant but after finishing my meal and enjoying the service I decided to post this and share my experience. I was very much interested in the decor and the name of the restaurant, the server explained and answered all my questions. The chips were very fresh and the salsa is to die, best salsa in town. Now for the good part the food was fabolous! I oredered the REAL CHICKEN a delicious tender chicken breast topped with grilled...

My fiance and I were famished on Saturday around lunchtime and I suggested we go try the new Tilted Kilt. I had fond memories of spending a weekend at the Rio in Las Vegas for a friend's wedding and she had her reception at the Tilted Kilt located inside. The Vegas version had great food, wonderful atmosphere and the girls were HOT HOT HOT. I knew my man was in for a treat. Usually he is always walking a few steps behind me, this time he was practically sprinting to get inside after...
I have been looking forward to the opening of Desi Cafe for months now! I love Indian food but feel that Bakersfield lacks a place that has both great food AND a great atmosphere. Desi Cafe definitely has both, and then some! As soon as we walked in, my friend and I were greeted by a very sweet hostess who promptly showed us to our table with some menus in hand, and told us to help ourselves to the...
This is a nice hidden gem. From the outside this place looks like one of those hole in the wall joints that specialize in Monday Night Football and Bud Light. But the inside is bright, spacious and -- most importantly -- clean. The place has a nice tile decor and tons of seating. The food is what really surprised me. I had the Chile Verde dinner and it was just the right level of spicy. The rice and beans were pretty standard but the chips and salsa were top knotch. And when we ordered a...
