  • Thai Taste

    4 stars from Kharsa12

I have been to Thai Kitchen and Thai Gardens, both owned by the same couple that owns the Thai Taste on Panama Lane. The food is delicious, the employees are hospitable and very polite and the prices are just right. If you have never tried Thai food, I suggest you begin your meal with a simple shrimp cake. These little darlings come with an apricot sauce that is sweet but not overly-sweet. The California rolls and the Mango-Shrimp Tempura rolls are excellent! The Shrimp wonton soup is a must,...

  • Hawley AC & Heating

These guys saved me when I could not get anyone else to come without paying  a "Preferred Patsy" fee... I called  one the large  AC companies in town and they told me it would be a week before they could come out, but if I paid a fee to join their "Preferred Customer" program it would be sooner. Uh, no thanks. If they try to take advantage before they even show up, I did not want to find out what they would try to pull when they got here. I found some...

  • Hawley AC & Heating

I use Hawley A/C . There is no one else that I would call to service my air conditioning needs. They always goes far and beyond the call of duty. They are dependable and honest. Reasonable prices. A great company you can trust!

  • Harmony Road Music School

    5 stars from momcq3

WHAT AN AWESOME MUSIC SCHOOL.  KIDS LEARN AS THEY PLAY. THEY BUILD SELF-CONFIDENCE AS THEY GROW. IT'S GREAT TO SEE KIDS LEARN AND HAVE FUN.  I HAVE 2 KIDS IN THE PROGRAM AND I AM AMAZED AT WHAT THEY CAN PLAY.  HOPE THEY ARE STILL AROUND WHEN I HAVE GRAND KIDS.

  • Hourglass Kitchen & Bar

    5 stars from rxgirl1984

Went here for drinks last night and I loved it (I will write a review when I have dinner here soon).  Went at around 9pm and there was a good amount of people there at the bar.  I thought the decor was really pretty and the staff was very friendly.  We had Jeff the bartender taking care of my girlfriend and I the entire night.  After about 10pm, that is when it got much busier (plus it was Wednesday) so I was surprised and happy that I found a place to go to that...

  • Connie's Kupcake Kreations

    5 stars from jasonsperber

Cupcakes seem to be the new "in" thing, capitalizing on a combination of childhood nostalgia, the illusion of portion control (it's just a cupcake!), and, heck, just the fun of it all.  Who doesn't like cupcakes?  The big-city craze for gourmet cupcakes in a plethora of flavor and frosting combinations has hit Bakersfield in recent months, and now there are several places in town that specialize in the treat. Connie's is the latest arrival on the scene, and I only...

  • Rocket Shop Cafe

After reading so many great reviews about this place, I decided to give it a shot.  I showed up and told some lady it was my first time there.  She was really nice and gave me a menu.  I looked it over, and decided I was ready to order.  And I sat there.  And sat there.  And sat there some more.  The lady who so graciously seated me stood at the end of the bar and was yapping away.  After getting her attention, she came over and said, "Oh, she...

I believe "Le Corusse Rouge" is French for "terrible restaurant."

  • Elaine’s Cafe & Market

    2 stars from msarad

FIve stars from someone who has never visited ? Whan I went, there wasn't much to choose from. The sandwich was vegan but no better than what I make at home. The potato salad was dry and suffered from too much dill. We tried some maple faux ice cream. It was way to sweet for me, and the texture was, well, different. Elaine's is a good idea, but  I have to say the owners need to go out of town and chack out similar restaurants in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and the Bay area,   Try this:...

  • Outback Steakhouse

    5 stars from steakdude

Have you checked out the specials at Outback??  Perhaps one of the overlooked items on the menu is the Sirloin Focaccia Sandwich.  It's on the back  under lunch items, but should be featured with the Top Sirloins and Prime Rib.  Tender sliced Sirloin on Focaccia Bread with a special sauce, dripping in cheese.  The au jus is mixed with the french onion soup.  WOW!!!!

  • Bella Sol Therapeutic Salon

    5 stars from MartiniDave

I met Monica years ago after suffering from fifteen years of neck pain and resulting in arm/hand numbness. After my first visit I noticed a dramatic reduction in pain and by my sixth visit it had disappeared. Regular massages keep me upbeat and feeling great. Prices are more than fair for a therapeutic place and all the staff is personally trained by her. Awesome service, atmosphere and location. A definite recommendation here!!!

  • Venus Unisex Salon

    4 stars from tbcjgranados

I have been cutting my hair at Venus Unisex Salon for the past two years.  This is my favorite salon ever.  It’s a simple place but with a lot of character.  The stylists are friendly and very professional.  I can’t believe that they still charge $10.  I would pay twice as much for their service.

  • The Pour House

    5 stars from pookathecat

The Pour House has the best Ribeye in town...hands down!! Every Tuesday they have a different special (ribeye steak, ribs, pork chops etc...). This is a fairly small place but does a tremendous business. Prices are terribly reasonable. This is a must try lunch place !!

  • Stars Theatre Restaurant

    5 stars from pedigo328

I visited this place 3 times one year and that is when they were presenting the show "Christmas at Stars." One reason was because my girlfriend was in the show, but besides that, they put on great service, and what can I say, a great show! I absolutely loved the food and the service they offered. The staff were really nice and fun. It is definitely on the pricy side, but at least going one time is definitely worth it.

  • Dewar's Candy Store

    3 stars from pedigo328

My family and I like to go here every great once in awhile to grab a little treat, the George's Special being my personal favorite everytime. We all love it, but it doesn't have quite the same giddyup as the downtown created. While it is a bit more laid back atmosphere the employees always do seem to treat the customers nice, just not quite as much energy. But what can I say, the ice cream definitely makes up for most of it!

  • Le Corusse Rouge

    1 star from regor

If there was something below a one star this place would definitely deserve it. The owner needs to get a clue from all of the bad ratings she gets. She needs to quit trying to run a restuarant, it is definitely not her fortay. The food here "SUCKS" to say the least, what a disapointment.

  • Dewar's Candy Store

    4 stars from maryrusso

I was excited to go to this newer Dewars in the Northwest since they have an outdoor patio. I was disappointed. This Dewars definately lacks the charm of the downtown original. The interior was ordinary and was just like sitting in the middle of the parking lot. I enjoyed the ice cream, but I was also surprised when I received their trademark Black & white in a styrofoam drink cup. It just didn't seem grand enough for me. I will go back, but if I had a choice, I'd prefer to go to the...

  • Le Corusse Rouge

After a few happy hours there in the past,  we decided to take friends there for dinner last night. I honestly couldn't believe the owner as she placed the plates on the table and with a guilty grin, told us to enjoy our meal. After hovering over the poor bartender gal reminding her that she uses too many ice cubes and pours too much, she then quickly followed our party to the salad bar, well...a table with sparse salad ingredients on it, and watched every portion we placed on the plate...

  • Le Corusse Rouge

    1 star from BillRobison

I have been there twice, and both times I said I will never go again. We stopped in for a cocktail and then dinner later. I tried the happy hour margarita, never have I had anything that bad. It was as if someone had ordered a bad tequila on the rocks, had drank half of it and when the iced had melted they poured it on the rocks for me. Just severly diluted tequila. I ordered the blackend chicken as was surprised it was not really "blackened"  it was simply burnt. No flavor, just burnt. ...

  • Ruben's Mexican & Seafood

Ruben's is a great place--food, atmosphere, and service all A+.  It reminds me of Antojitos that used to be around the corner.

  • Daddy O's Frozen Yogurt & Gelato

    5 stars from EDM65

Daddy O's is great place.  I feel like a regular, Holiday seems to know my family when she sees us. I enjoy the yogurt.  I like the way it is priced by weight so I can get just what I want.  The gelato reminds me of when I was in Italy.

  • Pizzaville Usa-Oak

    5 stars from ReeSansRue

My favorite pizza place.  There used to be three or four of them in town.  When I was a kid living in Shafter, my parents would take me to the Pizzaville in Oildale every year on my Birthday.  (In my opinion, the only place that was ever as good as Pizzaville was Home Plate Pizza, which was in Bakersfield for several years.  It, too, once had three or four locations.)

  • Self Serve Pet Spa

    5 stars from Pup

Quick easy way to groom your pet.  We have been going there since they opened.  The tubs are always sparkling clean, the shampoo is great and the towels...big, thick and very soft -- just like a real spa.  Our pups' favorite part -- the treats they give them after they are finished with their baths. Definitely a five star establishment!

  • Los Aguacates Mexican Grill

    5 stars from alwaysnikki

OMG we LOVE this restruant!!!  The servings are large; the drinks are awesome... the salsa does leave a little to be desired but with excellent service and amazing food i can look past that fact... :) I have to say this is one of my FAVE mexican haunts in town...

  • Edible Arrangements

    4 stars from bakobornnraised

Wow. We just recieved a beautiful fruit bouquet from some friends of ours in regards to my mother's recent surgery. The delivery girl apologized for a few smushed tips on the watermelon, but once i unwrapped in and looked at the arrangement, I didn't notice any flaws. The fruit was cold (extremely nice on a 100 degree day) and each piece was fresh and sweet. The watermelon was crisp, the honeydew and cantalope was juicy, and the pineapple flowers were nice to look at and eat. Not quite sure...

  • Harmony Road Music School

An awesome program!  4 of my grandkids have attended there at one time or another ....and more importantly....they are ALL still into music!!  Wish I had that available for me or my children when we were smaller!  Do your child or grandchild a favor and let them benefit from music training....it really does affect any part of their learning skills!

  • Hawley AC & Heating

Excellent service!  We got a new Air Conditioner that works like a dream - better than any of our others!  And - you never get the feeling that you got scalped - very honest!!  Highly recommend!

  • Starbucks

    3 stars from bakobornnraised

This one is usually pretty busy and no, there isn't a drive thru. Seating is pretty limited, and it's even worse when the tweens hang out here on the weekends... I went in there today and the cashier girl was nice and took my order; "coffee light frappuccino." With CLF written on my cup, I guess the girl making the drinks thought it was a caramel frappuccino- which is what she made. I told her I asked for a coffee one- somewhat apologetic and feeling as if...

  • Los Molcajetes

    5 stars from odunford

Oh man, this place is great!  Try a molcajete (named after the bowl it comes in).  Fold up some meat with a piece of nopale, roasted green onion and cheese with some rice and beans in a tortilla and enjoy!  I don't go as often as I'd like, because every time I go, I tell myself, "Don't eat the whole thing!"  Yet every time I go, I DO eat the whole thing!  And then I finish the sauce in the bowl with a spoon (which is rather embarrassing).

  • Ruben's Mexican & Seafood

    4 stars from pebartenstein

Try the seafood, the cooks do a fantastic job.  They even make their own jalapeno butter to cook the red snapper filet.  Ruben is very accommodating when you want to make substitutions.  Great lunch buffet and Sunday brunch!

  • La Costa Mariscos

    4 stars from odunford

Food IS excellent, especially the enchiladas del mar, the fish tacos and the ceviche tostada.  BUT as others have pointed out, prices have really gone up.  Took a friend there today for her birthday and we had the enchiladas, tacos (a la carte, for which they reduced the price by $1 to $8.95) and tostada.  Even without drinks, the bill was still over $27!  Nine bucks for two fish tacos?!?!  (But man, were they yummy!)

  • Cafe Med

    5 stars from jillian83

I have been going to Cafe Med for the past 5 years and have to say that I still enjoy going there with my friends and family to have a nice meal in a calming environment.  From a customers perspective, Mehr and Kathy (owners) are great people who are definitely involved with their business.  Everyday they are there greeting their customers and ensuring that everything runs smoothly.  Cafe Med definitely has authentic Mediterranean food that has great taste to match their...

  • Bakersfield Budo

    5 stars from jillian83

This is the best place to learn martial arts and self control in the county.  My fionce and my eldest son go here and absoulutely love the environment and the staff.  This is the only place in Kern County that I am aware of that practice the ancient Japanese arts of Budo, especially Aikido (Steven Segal art).  If you want to learn how to defend yourself and learn how to be at peace with who you are I highly recommend Bakersfield Budo.

  • Romano's Macaroni Grill

This is one of my favorite spots!  The food is always fresh and delicious.  The service is always friendly and courteous.  Anyone complaining about this place has to have a grudge or something because this is a great place to dine.

  • Luigi's

    4 stars from rxgirl1984

I had not been here in 8 years! I've been missing out.  I love this place.  I had the ravioli for lunch and it was delicious.  Everyone else in my group had spaghetti and one had a meatball sandwich.  Everything looked really good.  Service was alright, we were sat down pretty quickly even though it was quite busy and we received our food right away.  The only thing that got me was the server at the end when it took forever to get the bill (we only had 1 hour for lunch) and when we did...

  • Plumberry's

    5 stars from wolfdreamer

Quite possibly the perfect B-town pizza. Forget the chain pizzerias, and stop going to whoever's pizza place is closest to you---go the extra mile and taste Plumberrys, because you won't be disappointed. Although they have a terrific menu filled with Italian specialties, sandwiches etc., (and those are all quite good), go for the pizza. The pizza is especially delicious. It has a not-too-thin yet not-too-thick light & chewy crust, a perfect layer of just-right spiced tomato sauce, topped...

  • Far East Cafe

    5 stars from MostlyRussky

We've been going to this restaurant for over a year now, always at lunch time and almost always for their pho (Vietnamese soup).  The owner is a hustle-bustle, adorable, fast-talking Asian lady who greets customers, waits the tables, cleans up, runs the cash register, and sometimes sits in the back making egg rolls faster than you'd believe.  If you're in the mood for a huge plate of good, basic Chinese food (choice of entree, soup, fried rice, and egg roll) for...

  • Far East Cafe

    5 stars from pstroud2

I have been here now for lunch about a dozen times and highly recommend it for taste, service and overall value.  The staff is small but mighty and so they have to work hard to keep up at times but overall I give service 5 stars based slightly more on the atmosphere and friendliness than speed.   Speed is good though and accuracy with orders or other quality issues have never been a problem.   Prices are very low and the food is great.  You get large...

  • The Bulk Yard

I LOVE this place, too. I have gotten soil and rocks there. Great guys - great prices - great service. A little hidden off of Rosedale, but easy in and out with a pickup truck.

Great service from a wonderful local company.  You will not be disappointed by using The Bulk Yard.

  • Joseph's Italian Restaurant

    4 stars from BakoBella

Love it here!  Service is great -- the chef often comes out and talks with you to make sure everything is to your liking.  Some people might not like the interior, but I like it -- it's just a good, old "joint" with good food and good people.

  • The Hideout

    4 stars from mhatfield

This is a great lunch at a great price.  I have eaten several things from the menu and every one has been delicious.  The portions are good sized and the staff has always been very friendly.  I have to admit that the iced tea is not very good though.  It tastes insant instead of brewed.  If you are downtown you should give it a try.
