Probably the best quick service chinese restaurant in Bakersfield. Darned good food, good service, great prices. Wish it was closer, so I could eat here more.
The burger was ok, but the fries were stone cold. Passing along the old, cold fries is an old tradition in drive-thrus, but one I will be living without. Update - Went back a year and a half later... I got a burger with tomatoes so thin they came apart at the touch, a badly boxed meal with my chilidog laying sideways... and the same old, cold fries. I'd forgotten how bad this place was, but this was a rememberance I could have done without!
When your lights are on, and your signs say "Open until 10pm 7 days a week" and the Open sign is prominatly displayed, one does not expect to find a locked door at 5 minutes until 9. Forget this place. If they can't even keep their signage current, and be as rude and cold as they were to a justifyably upset customer, then they're not worth your time. Especially when they say they're available.
The Sugar Mill is the best. We ate there again on Saturday and the breakfast was supperb and the waitress gave us the best service we ever had. She gave a separate carafe of coffee because my husband drinks his coffee fast. She was there whenever we needed her and she was so-o-o friendly. As far as being a family restaurant it definitely is. I, myself, would complain if children were loud and unruly. Remember, everyone goes out to enjoy their meal and not be disrupted by excessive noise...
When are they open?
Quiznos used to be special until yesterday. They served my sandwich on a sesame-seed covered bun without any notice. They also raised the price. I go drinkless there as I own Coke (KO) stock. I usually just have a glass of water. Place has been very nice but I just had surgery for diverticulitis and cannot abide any seeds. I stay way from cucumbers, pickles, tomatoes and sesame seeds. These seem to be the most common. Quiznos had always served me with a regular white French roll, why they...
Excellent food. Reasonable prices. Very small place, so I usually avoid lunchtime hours. My lunch hour is from 1-2pm so I encounter very few people and can usually get a seat at a booth. Bonus they have a book exchange for all you voracious readers!
Used to go there all the time. The friendliness is there and manifests itself with a loud buzz. I usually try to read a book at lunch time and this bothers me. The food is good, especially the hamburger. I stopped going there because of the noise, I now go to the Racquet Club's coffee shop. The hamburgers are just as good, the place is quieter and they serve good soup.
Pretty good actually. Love the little cars, planes, trucks and etc.
The worst sandwich shop in Bakersfield. They don't take credit cards or atm though there's a machine you can use in the lobby if you want to pay an extra $1.50. Plus the owner is too cheap to even buy a cash register. Mostly, though, the worst thing about this place is the service....slow, slow, slow. If you have an hour and a half to spend on an overpriced sandwich and you don't mind that neither the owner nor the employees give two hoots about you the customer then this is the place for...
I just ate there today and still delicious as always!!! Muy Delicioso!
Love the salsa... sometimes I go JUST because I'm craving the delicious salsa and chips! :)
Quiznos Sub is one of those chain sandwich shops that been lucky enough to maintain that special something which originally made them famous. Good sandwiches with a nice variety of chips and drinks make this a common place for me to pop by when I need a "quick bite". My only bad comment for this place is the parking... it's always difficult to maneuver around this location, and harder to find a place for parking.
I suppose Los Tacos qualifies as "fast food" Mexican, having a drive through, and a plastic seating area that does not have much ambiance. Still, the food is the big draw, and the shredded beef is really good. I have tried several different dishes, and I can recommend the enchiladas most especially. They also have party trays that will feed an army. I am not particularly fond of their guacamole, the only real flaw I have found.
They use some kind of spicy seasoning here that seems to overwhelm my palate. It's on the Bloomin's Onion, it's on the steaks....I find it to be overpowering. The service is very, very friendly, and if you're into seafood, they have a diverse selection. Just not quite as good as other steakhouses in this area.
First of all... I am so excited about this place it's stupid! The owners of Thai kitchen used to own Thai Garden on Brundage and quickly became a must stop weekly location. When they sold, the new owners put out a bleak misrepresentation of what Thai food should be and left (literally) a bad taste in my mouth. Now that I found them back in business I have reason again to enjoy that whacky cuisine. GREAT! GREAT! GREAT! in case you're wondering... that's for the food, service, overall...
I love Lorene's, especially for breakfast, although I have also enjoyed many dinners there. The portions sizes are larger than average, and the food is down-home good. I wouldn't recommend it to someone who was real worried about cholesterol, however. I find the prices to be about average for coffee-shop style restaurants.
Some friends and I decided to try this place out. It was fabulous. We sampled many different types of rolls and they were all exceptional! Our server was very attentive but the kitchen was a little on the slow side. The service and food more than made up for it. A great new place for some really good sushi!
If you are looking for a swank, quiet place to have lunch this is absolutely your place! Dark and relaxing are the words that best come to mind for their atmosphere... as well as romantic or highly professional if you are in the mood to talk or pitch. Service is always great, especially when greeted on a regular occasion by Manny himself. The food is amazing and everything I've ever had has sent my taste buds into overdrive!!! VERY TASTY and a special treat for that special someone. Be...
One of my favorite places to go and meet up with "the guys" for their daily lunch buffet. While the pizza is not exceptional, I can definitely say it's good... good enough for me to get 2nd's (sometimes 3rd's). It is usually a pretty good variety of Meat/Veggie/Combo pizzas along with bread sticks (sometimes cheesy) and potato wedges. To make it even better, the buffet comes with a salad bar... and being somebody that worked a salad bar in my early years I can vouch that this is a good...
The Red Pepper is the best in town for great food, margaritas, and service! Whenever we visit "home" our first stop is the Red Pepper for our "fix!" Before we reluctantly leave Bakersfield for home, we have returned to the Red Pepper at least another 1 or 2 meals to satisfy our craving until we return.
Tre Bien!!!!
The fettucine here is very strange. As an afficianado of almost all local fettucines, I was very disappointed in this place, given all the hype. The sauce was bland, lacking the cheesy consistency to make it inspiring. I didn't finish it, and did not take it home. Haven't been back.
The best cheap burger in town. I love that they've stayed true to their roots: burgers, fries, shakes and sodas...no weird salads or chicken cr*p....just good vittles for the fast food addicted. Their drive through is extraordinarily fast, even when there's a line, it doesn't take that long to be on my way!
This is a truly hidden gem, a deli to beat all delis! Hot & cold foods, sandwiches, entrees and salads, all prepared quickly on site. I am able to get there, order, eat and be back at work during a 40 minute lunch break. I especially like pit beef; it is fabulous!
A diamond in the rough... this little sandwich shop has all of the makings of your favorite lunch stop. Super friendly service, which we seldom get in Bakersfield anymore, is their normal attitude... great atmosphere with a distinct flair for the local sports scene (Condors, Blitz, Jam, etc.)... and of course, delicious food! Somehow I stumble in on tri-tip sandwich day and have even been graced by the gods by receiving their last one, and I have never been disappointed. On our beautiful...
Great fan of Dagny's! I love the atmosphere of ever changing art decorating the walls with a constant buzz of blenders and coffee grinders in the background. Good service, location and vibe aside... Dagny's puts out a good coffee as well as food (awesome lunches included!!!) and something cold for the HOT Bakersfield summer. After all, it all boils down to taste, and they are in my personal favorite for a reason.
The location is convenient... the service is relatively quick... but I wasn't too impressed with the food itself. I thought the sandwiches were much better than the full meals/combos, but overall it seemed a little bit on the expensive side for a quick lunch stop.
I liked the decor and the food was very tasty - fresh. The price is a bit steep, but expected based on the restaurant atmosphere and the quality of food. The staff was a bit slow, but again probably going through some growing pains. I'd like to see an expanded seating area as the place got crowded very quickly. However, a great place if you go there late and just chill - don't get in a hurry.
It's all about the cookies. Happy faces...rainbows...thumbprints...There is simply no other shortbread like it in the world. My sister comes here from San Jose to get them, begging us to send her cookies when she can't get here often enough. And....some day, when I get married, the cake will be a Smith's marble cake. The frosting is absolutely to die for, and it's worth the price!
Great ribs! Certainly could compete in a rib competition. The sides are so so; I prefer to order ribs a la carte. The seating is limited, but they can cater for hundreds at your place, so get some to go. And...the guy behind the counter is a hoot.
I love it for what it is. Quick (usually,) filling junk food that you can't get at one of the burger-taco joints. The ambiance is early cattle call, and you won't get a romantic table for two, but that's not why I go there. It's not why anyone goes there. Let's face it; it's good for a pig-out night, for a pretty cheap price considering you can eat and eat and eat.
This is a wonderful new place next to Terrio physical therapy behind the Marketplace. Beautifully done inside, very tastefully decorated with attentive and fast service. Food was excellent and the entire dining experience was first rate. We had the calamari appetizer (portion sizes could be a bit larger) and sushi rolls which were excellent. This place is going to be a huge hit ...
Cafe Med is in need of a makeover!!! It is overpriced and overrated. When ordering a few appetizers instead of dinner, we were disappointed to find most of the appetizers entree priced (4 pieces of ahi tuna for $17.). The Mediterranean sampler is far from generous in terms of the portion and the falafel often tastes stale. Likewise, the cheese plate was $14. for 2 very small pieces of cheese, since they now charge for the "set-up" (not like Basque, this includes the bread and a few pieces of...
It has always made me laugh that I enjoy going to a restaurant called, "The Hat." I love the food; it's not too hot or spicy for this gringa. The portion sizes are very large, and while the prices have gone up in recent years, they are still on par with most other Mexican places. This is an easy place to develop a relationship with; they get to know you, and the hosts are warm and friendly. One of the things I love about El Sombrero is the guacamole. At some restaurants they...
Great place! The falafel is delicious and everything is fresh! Inexpensive and unlike anything else in Bakersfield. Give it a try!
AppleOne is the worst recruiting firm I have ever worked with in my (14) years of administrative experience. They will lie and say anything to get you to come in for an interview. The website "application" is nothing more than 75% marketing - using you previous company names in their resume of "pooled candidates" to their clients who are paying them (HIRING COMPANIES, NOT YOU). You list all of your references and they become targeted potential clients for them to solicit their...
This is a small, family owned business. The owners are two of the nicest people anywhere and they train their employees to ensure that customer service and satisfaction comes first. Their customer care attitude appears to drive their continuing slow but constant growth and success. The food is comprised of mexican favorites and some dishes unique to them. Discussions with the owner reveal that freshness of food, value, and friendly, almost home like, atmosphere are top goals. I have...
My husband and I went to Valentien's on Saturday and we enjoyed the most amazing dinner. The food was excellent as well as the services. If you enjoy fine dinning, this is the place to go.
I love this place. the service has always been great. the price is always just right, the enchiladas and tacos are the best. the salsa is hard to duplicate as with most other mexican restaurants. i eat here almost weekly. i encourage everyone to try it at least once
I have worked closely with ICS for quite some time now and have seen them work wonders. All are great, but Anselmo is the best. Extremely professional individual who knows his stuff. Thanks for the great work you do!!
Been there, done that! Not just once either. We have given them numerous chances (in our minds) to show how they have improved their services by driving through on time periods of... oh... once every 4 or 5 months! NO improvements! Management there is more concerned with "bumping" the orders through than the quality of the order and the "kids" taking the orders are definitely pre-occupied with the employee gossip that can be overheard when they forget they still have their mics on.
This place has the wrost mexican food. & very high on the price for the food. My wife & I have been there 1-2 times thinking maybe it was just 1 of those days mexican just didn't sit right but no the food was not good to us & I'm Mexican. Sorry.
I really like their spaghetti with meat sauce, and I get it every time. They have a good wine list as well which is nice because nothing goes better with pasta than a good glass of wine. The atmosphere is nice, it feels cozy and warm. I've been meaning to try their pizza. Prices are a little steep, but about on par with atmospheric-style Italian eateries like Olive Garden. Parking is sometimes hard to find, and the location couldn't be at a more traffic-ridden area (corner of Truxtun & Coffee).
My favorite mexican restaurant in town, what it lacks in atmosphere it more than makes up for in delicious food, best salsa around and you must try their chimichanga burrito.
This corporate style taqueria is pretty good. I don't care for their pico de gallo and the beans (both kinds) are usually a bit bland, but the rest of the food is (like the name says) fresh. I really like the fish tacos, and they have HUGE salads. Most of the meals will leave you very full. The salsa bar has different choices of hot to mild sauce, and I love the fresh cilantro. The food is consistent and the restaurant is kept clean by the busy staff. It's not rare to see the line all the way...
THIS LADY IS VERY NICE AND SWEET.
The consultants at ICS are the most professional, knowledgable individuals in town. There credit expertise did WONDERS for me and now im I OWN my home, thanks to them! Would recommend them to anyone with credit problems.
You know all those first window- second window drive throughs? You know, the ones that are never used any more. The first window is taped over with advertisements and used for storage. This place hadn't used that window in the three years I'd spun by this place, but when they reopened it and I drove too far and tried to pay at the second window, somehow that gave them the right to make me feel like an idiot. After three years of zipping right by it, what were the odds I were going to stop...
Overpriced compared with your usual hole-in-the-wall, styrofome tray chinese places. The food was blah too. The teriakyi chicken was dry and overcooked, to the point where it was just a lost cause for me.
