Its the best Mexican food and the best seafood in town. The price for the lunch special is great! Great food at a Great price
I JUST LOVE THIS PLACE. ITS SO GREAT. U WILL LOVE IT WHATEVER U WANT TO ORDER. THEY WILL HELP U OUT IF U DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE MENU. I GO THERE EVERY WEEKEND. I NEVER GOT BORE FROM THERE. THEY R JUST TOO GOOD. OWNERS R SO NICE.
This is a piece I wrote for The Renegade Rip (Bakersfield College's student newspaper): If you are looking for a good Mediterranean restaurant in Bakersfield, then look no further than Flame and Skewers, a restaurant located in downtown Bakersfield. When I first entered the restaurant, I was greeted with Arabic music and an aroma that was soothing to my soul and my stomach. As I approached the counter, the smell of chicken, lamb, beef, and French fries made it very difficult...
The lettuce wraps are great (both chicken and veggie) as well as the Dan Dan Noodles. If you're vegetarian, you can request any of the dishes with tofu instead of meat. The garlic spinach is very tasty, as are the other veggies. I also like that you can request brown rice or white rice or a combination! P.F. Chang is a chain restaurant, but the best kind with consistently good service and food. Enjoy!
I volunteered, consigned and purchased through Little Feet Repeats last September. They had everything from Newborn apparel to Junior sizes and maternity clothes. The inventory also included furniture, toys, books, bedding and much more. I was able to purchase a bassinet in PERFECT condition for $15.00!! I don't think you will find better deals anywhere in or out of town. The quality of the items is remarkable! The owner does not accept anything that is broken, ripped or stained. And if...
This is a great place to eat. My wife and I go there often for breakfast. If you sit in a booth, chances are good that Donna herself will wait on you. Not that that is necessary, the other servers are good. We were there last Saturday and had the DK omelette. Extremely good and filling!
Great old fashioned diner. The staff is attentive and the food is great. I like the nickel jukebox machines on each table, and they keep the place very clean. Their fried burgers are among the best I've had, and my mouth waters just thinking about them. Order fries and you'll get more than you can possibly eat, and they will bring them to you early if your food isn't ready yet (a nice touch). This is also the only place that I'll eat ketchup on fries. It must be really fresh, because I...
GREAT FOOD!
The microbrew beers at Lengthwise are the best microbrews I've had, and I've tried a lot! The food is pretty good too. Try the fish & chips and the fish tacos, you won't be disappointed. The centennial ale is used in the batter and gives it a great flavor.
This place is the best! Good burgers, love the fries!, variety of food!
I just had lunch here today and it was great. The item I chose was the lunch special Enchilada Suizas. It was delicious! The enchilada sauce was there chile verde sauce and it was different from any other I've tried. The sauce was spicy but not to the point where I had to take a drink every few seconds. The only thing I was a little picky about was the salsa. It was very soup like and the taste was a little bitter. Other than that it was a great experience.
Driving and lusting for a really good hamburger I finally remembered Lengthwise's burgers. Absolutely the best in town. I immediately drove to the brewpub, ordered and had a Centenniel while I waited. Finally...just what I was waiting for. All the food and, of course, the beer, is so good at Lengthwise and the friendly staff are like family.
I went to Cold Stone Creamery in the Marketplace with my two kids on February 24, 2007. This was the first time I had gone to Cold Stone Creamery when I was not planning to go, nor had I gone, to Edwards. The kids and I had been couped up in the house all day and I thought we needed to get out. My kids normally love ice cream. Me too. I love ice cream. We like all types of ice cream, including Rite Aide (formerly Thrifty's ice cream). I should have suspected something was not right...
This place is awesome. The food is great and is so healthy. The vibe is great also. only 12 tables in the whole restaurant. But dont worry, you wont wait more than 10minutes for a table. The 2 servers are awesome and the owner constantly visited our table to make sure we were alright and to socialize and educate us about thai food. He also suggested which dishes to order which were all just great. Definately a place to take a date or that special person or a group of friends or family. I had...
Best coffee in town!! Nice people working there
wow! I was not expecting how awesome this food would be!! Hands down the best gravy in town! It's a small place, more of a trucker stop, so I was a bit apprehensive going there. But I go to the Condor's games regularly and see the ads and the food just looked great. So we gave it a try. Its really small inside, but cozy. It was packed because we came on a holiday. There were only 2 servers and they were running around like crazy, but they were extremely nice and helpful! Our server...
Hidden gem! Great breakfasts, great patty melts!! I wish there were more of these around, I don't live near the oildale area so its a special trip every once in a while just to go to Zorba's. Everything I have ever tried here has been great. The portions are huge!
Try the creme brulee cheesecake!!! OMG it is so wonderful!!! I love their use of ingredients here, its not just basic basic bakersfield restaurants generally have. I usually get their south of the border sandwich.. with an ortega chili and pico de gallo, it is amazing! It is so hard not to choose that, but for my birthday (which I had my party there) I opted for the blackened chicken tortelinni and that was sooo good! I need to go back and try more because there is soo many good looking...
I cannot say enough good things about this place!! It has the best service in Bakersfield!! I usually go here once every 2 weeks or so, and every single time I have come in, the service has been excellent! Most always when I come in I get a big Hi! and when I leave its a 'Thanks for coming have a great day!' type thing. That is important to me, I hate the feeling when you walk in a place and are not greeted, you just feel like they don't care that you are there. I usually come for lunch and...
OMG is it possible to give no stars?!?! This places deserves negative stars!!! Awful Awful Awful!!! I seriously have never had worse service in my life! Food was eh. I ordered fajitas and they didn't come with sour cream so I asked for some...and I got charged for it! This is not a fast food place, you don't charge for stuff like that! Food took forever, server didnt give refills, dropped the check and never came back! So we took it up to the front and there were 5 employees hovering...
I went here a couple months ago and food was decent, server was really nice, so I figured I would come back. I went for lunch yesterday (02-22-07) and I was really dissapointed! I ordered the country breakfast. I was dissapointed with the gravy, it was pretty bland and flavorless, i added tons of pepper and improved it a bit..but not much. I guess after having Kelleys Cafe's awesomely flavored gravy, this just paled in comparrison. The server was kinda iffy, an older lady, pretty nice, only...
This place is great. The microbrews are the best. The food is good and the service is excellent. Great place to hang out and relax and enjoy!
I hate to say it but I was so excited when I learned we were getting a BJ's in Bakersfield. I have eaten at several other BJ's in various other cities in California as well as other states. I love the food. But time and time again I am disappointed with the service at the Bakersfield location. Good food can overcome a lot but not bad service. Not to mention my compaints about the service to the restaurant have fallen on deaf ears.
Of all the franchise joints, this is a pretty solid place. Family friendly, probably not a place to look for a mate. That said, great pizzas and salads. Try the Walnut Chicken salad and the Milan pizza. Another good thing about this place: the corporate owners put a lot into training and customer service, and you and generally rely on first class service. Always an advantage in a town not known for this...
Best tacos for little $$$$
This place rocks. I've eaten at a lot of Indian restaurants in Los Angeles, and none came close to the rich, varied and authentic flavors TaJ Mahal serves up. I think Bakersfield is really lucky to have some place like this. The meals are really reasonably priced and you can get out of their cheaply if you want to. The waiters are ready to answer any questions, and I had a ton the first time I ate there. The best part about this restaurant is that you can return a dozen times, have...
Saturday morning breakfasts here are so fun with my parents. The chorizo and pan fried potatoes is my favorite thing to get, but the pancakes are pretty good, too.
This place is so awesome! Sort of pricey, but totally worth it. The shrimp dumplings are a must have, so is the mongolian beef and lemon pepper shrimp. The Dragon Oohlong tea is great with dinner and the banana spring roll dessert is to die for! Recommend highly to anyone for any event. :)
Great restaurant! Bacon burger and pie is all you need. Also, this place has a very friendly atmosphere.
GREAT FOOD EVERY TIME
Don Pericos Mexican Restaurant
THE FOOD IS GREAT BUT WHEN IT COMES TO THEM AND THE VALUE OF SAFTY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS THEY SUCK. A WOMAN I DONT KNOW STARTED PICKING A FIGHT WITH ME ABOUT SOMETHING THAT DIDNT CONCERN HER AND THE RESTURANT EMPLOYEES SEEN IT AND SAID OR DID NOTHING TO WHERE I LEFT TO PREVENT A FIGHT THAT WAS REALLY BAD.
If the only reason to visit Quiznos on Chester and 18th is to say hello to the owner, Ronda, along with the excellent staff, the place would earn 5 stars. You are always made to feel like you are their only customer. That said, the food is nice and tasty. I even went there so often last summer I sort of got burnt out. Your body can only take so many Honey Mustard salads. Still, I eat there no less than 2 to 3 times a month. My children especially love the kids meal.
Great ice cream. Great shakes. Great Tradition. The waiters and waiters, although youthful, are very mature in their outlook and effort. I would like to make a gentle reminder to management that when things get crazy, such as when the graduation, kids recitals, and large family gathering crowds seem to converge all at once, which is normally on a weekend, you cannot forget to keep a smile and be gracious to your loyal customers.
I eat here on average of twice a week during baseball season and twice a month in the off season. The food is great for a sports bar and the waitresses and ownership is always friendly with a smile on their faces. The only time I would not go to Tailgaters is when you are with your family and you want to grab a bite after church during football season. Wrong move. Also, go somewhere else if you want to grab a bite before the Condors game and you don't have tickets. Favorite menu items:...
La Costa is the gold standard of mexican restaurants in town. I love the food so much, I even take business clients here. That being said, I only order one thing off the menu--Pollo en mole. I can't help it. I am addicted to this stuff.
My wife Alice and I dined at Miyoshi for our tenth anniversary on February 15th. We had dined at Miyoshi a month before and had a very good experience. However, I was concerned that our experience would not be the same because of the special occasion (e.g. they do not take reservations). Nothing bad happened. In fact, our dinner was even better than before. More importantly, their service was excellent. Although the tastiness of the food at Miyoshi goes without saying, the food tastes even...
This was the first restaurant I dined at in Bakersfield. I'm no Sushi expert, but everything I had here was great. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere pleasant. All the Sushi lovers I've talked to since eating here have said Miyoshi has the best Sushi in town.
When I come here, I enjoy the food, I enjoy the service, and I definitely enjoy that little piece of apple pie! I love the fact that you get that little treat after your meal. You don't see any other places around town doing that!
This place has the best tasting pizza in Bakersfield. My new fave is the white chicken pizza. It consists of alfredo sauce, chicken, cheese, all on top of a soft but lightly crunchy crust! Mainly what I love is the fact that there pizza's aren't as greasy as most pizza places around town. Great service and great food.
T L Maxwell's Restaurant & Bar
This was the first time my Wife and I have had dinner there, Valentines Day, and it won't be the last. Mr. Maxwell greeted us and sat us himself, nice touch. The wait staff was excelent as was the atmosphere. Now lets get to the real star of this experience, the food is out of this world. I ordered the Gorganzola Fillet, and let me tell you the sauce on this meat was outstanding, the cheese just right (not fully melted down) and the flllet was nice and pink and soft as butter. My Wife is...
Sunday is the best Champange Brunch.
Ever now and then after church we can convince the family to eat together. When everyone starts throwing names out there, Hodels is the one we all agree on. They have something for everyone. Salads of all kinds for the lettuce lover; fried chicken and beef for the meat lovers; and ice cream for the kids. Take your time; enjoy the family and the food. Home like enviroment soon as you walk in.
A large selection of wings to pick from: if you can stand the heat: they have the firey hot wings; or if you are like me you will stick with the regular hot wings. Very well priced and friendly staff.. And the best part you can call it in and pick it up..
Elephant Bar; i had always heard so much about it but i wasnt quite sure what it was. Usually sitting at a bar is a little uncomfortable to close to each other, but not here. Wonderful place to impress a first date.. And the outside is just as nice..
My favorite Mexican restaurant on the East side. The shrimp tacos are great, the enchiladas, the flautas, etc. etc. Highly recommend for a great dinner or lunch with friends and family.
Another one of my favorites. Good sushi, the Las Vegas is my favorite and the fried rice seems to be exceptionally good here, too. A+++
Love this place! Been here many times and spent lots of money. The Bakersfield Roll is soooo good and the shrimp teppanyaki is so yummy. Sake bombs are pretty awesome as well. Ask for David the chef, your table will not get bored :)
Well, I still want to give this place a chance because it seems so great and the atmosphere is nice. The food was sort of cold and it just wasn't all that great, I was expecting so much more I guess. The drinks were ok, but one round we got tasted really gross. I'm sorry! Just telling the truth. :) Hopefully, the next time will be better.
