Mimi's Cafe

This is one of my family's favorite places to eat. The staff is always friendly and the service is always great. My husband swears Mimi's has one of the best Liver with onions in town. And i love their pot roast. And their bread pudding is to die for. We have gone in and skipped dinner and just had the bread pudding before. I would definately reccomend eating at Mimi's to anyone who wants great food and great service.

Pappy's Coffee Shop

I think "Pappy's" is one of Kern County's BEST! A group of my friends gather every Saturday and "Pappy's" rates at the top of the list. The waitresses there are more than friendly and make this old-time restaurant a pleasing place, to dine and converse! I think "J-Boy" wouldn't be happy, if he was hung with a new rope!

I agree, French Toasts are great. However, I prefer the Pancakes and bacon. Another thing that I like is that t's always nice and clean. By the way, Santa Fe Cafe is American Food.

Lisa Borda Bord A Petite

Lisa is good. She catered my parents anniversary a few years back and it was really nice. She was very helpful, pleasant to work with, and the food was excellent. You can also call ahead and she will plan a meal for you; all you have to do and pick it up and heat it up.

Give me a break. This place is not good. There is really nothing left to say. I remember going there like 5 years ago for a birthday dinner and my wife's grandmother(the guest of honor) said,"Who the hell chose this place?"

Pappy's Coffee Shop

This place is funny. The decor is all old stuff. The glasses don't match, the tables aren't always level, and the photos on the wall are old Kern County. The food is pretty good; the portions are huge. Eat there for breakfast and you won't be eating again until tomorrow morning. The food is decent enough, the servers are friendly. On the weekends, it is always packed after 9 am.

Mexicali

Few local restaurants have the rich tradition of quality presented by Mexicali. My family has enjoyed Mexicali since I was a kid 40 years ago. Many other Mexican restaurants have entered the area in the past few years, but they're pretty much cheap imitations in my book. I don't know Mexicali's secrets, but I particularly enjoy their enchiladas & guacamole, asa well as the seasoning of their meat.

Village Grill

I sat out in the patio and waited an hour for our food, the food was terrible and told the waiter to take it back, I will never go back there

Bento Express

I just had the Bento Lunch special with the chicken and it only cost me about $8 and it was alot of food. 4 pieces of sushi, salad, mixed tempura, miso soup, and chicken teriyaki with rice. I was so full. Love this place, totally recommend for lunch.

Village Grill

I sat out on the patio on a gorgeous day and it was great. I had the ham and cheese omelette and it was delish. Love this place, totally recommend it and great service.

I love their patio! I think this place has great atmosphere, great servers and fantastic burgers and salads. I highly reccommend the Frisco burger and tri-tip salad.

J's Place

The yams I think were the best thing I have ever eaten. So yummy! Great greens & fried chicken just like it the South. The only negative thing I have to say is that the cornbread portion was too small! :) You MUST try this place!

bakodon....try eating at Amigos.....great food and even better prices. I made the switch and will never go back to Mexacali

YES! Best meatloaf EVER! You know it's good food when you don't stop eating even though you know you were full ten forkfulls ago. So here's the story... I ordered the meatloaf lunch special (only $7, which is a great price) which includes a lot of homemade meatloaf (a lil' spicy, full of flavor and perfect consistency... neither too moist or too dry), fabulous peppered corn, mashed potatoes and delicious cornbread. I ate every little bit of it! This place is awesome. They need more dining space because everyone seems to know how good the food is, the place is busy, but luckily we didn't have to wait for a table. Service is good, friendly staff and the food is AWESOME. GO!!!! Go NOW!

Hands down, the best Italian food in Bakersfield. The rigatoni is out-of-this-world!

BJs Restaurant & Brewery

I LOVE BJ'S!!! Service could be a little better at times. Sometimes my server comes around a lot, other times I see them only once or twice. But the food is the best in town!!

Food is good and seems fresh. The small calazone is way to much for one person to eat and recommend sharing a calazone. The restaurant is in need of some updating. The interior shows signs of being dirty and worn out.

Prime Cut

Service here is atrocious….Slow, Slow, Slow!......zzzzz. The hostess sat us and it took 19 minutes for someone to take our drink order. The server finally took our food order after being sat for over 30 minutes. Food is nothing to write home about. This restaurant will not make it unless the staff changes the way they operate.

BJs Restaurant & Brewery

Pizza is why you go to BJ’s. Service is spotty and at times hard to track down your server. Nice atmosphere; however, can be loud at times.

Mexicali

The salsa is the best in town. The restaurant is clean and service is average. Quaint atmosphere and the bar is a nice place to relax. The margaritas are excellent.

Outback Steakhouse

I never had a bad meal at Outback. I like the seasoning; however, I could see one with a sensitive palate could claim over-seasoning. The staff is always quick and friendly.

Milt's Coffee Shop

Home cooked meals. This is a late night spot to handle the hunger pains. The staff is always friendly and quick with service. Restaurant is always clean.

Tokyo Garden

What a show! Food is prepared right before you. The staff is friendly.

Growing up in the late 1950s and early 60s I remember how excelent the fried fruit pies were at Andres, I had one recently and it just didn't seem as good. Maybe it's because it's 45 years later or maybe nothing is as good as it is when you are a kid. They still have some pretty good burgers there though. Thanks for the memories.

Courtside at the Racquet Club

Food is always fresh and excellent. There is always a soup of the day that is homemade. Lunch crowd is always packed so do not be late. The restaurant is small and limited. Be there early or be prepared for a wait. The wait is worth your time. I’ve never had a bad meal.

Flame & Skewers Mediterranean

Food is worth the experience. Not a fan of Mediterranean food; however, I like the shwerima SANDWICH. The sandwich is made out of pita bread and has an excellent flavor. Highly recommended as a quick place to have lunch.

Casa Munoz

I never had a bad meal at Casa Munoz. The staff is always quick and friendly. The food is authentic and you have to try the “Special Burrito” it is my favorite.

El Portal

Hottest Chili Verde in town. Food has degraded since brother has taken over. Enchiladas Jalisco’s (Shrimp Enchiladas) are excellent. Décor is authentic; however, décor is outdated.

Olive Garden Italian Restaurant

Try their pizza! That's right! Good ingredients. Nice crust and smokey mozzaralla.

Sea Breeze Of The Southwest

Better than the "W'Bowl". Lil pricier but better seafood selection. Recommend the fried combo: shrimp, choice of fish, scallops or clam strips, and a side. Could use a better slaw. Nice quiet atmosphere even with tv in dining area.

Tina Marie's Cafe

Tina Marie's is one of the best places in town for its type. The food is great, the service is always pleasant, prompt and attentive, and the price is right. I highly recommend Tina Marie's.

Bento Express

I have had their tempura and some of their bowls. Anything I have tried has been great. Small place but great food!

USA Yogurt

I have been here quite a few times and really like it. They have good choices for toppings and yogurt. They also have sugar-free yogurt, at least a few of them at a time for variety.

Anita's Mexican Grill

I have been looking for a good authentic mexican restaurant in Bakersfield and have finally found it. Ready to get your taste buds working overtime. Salsa and Chips were excellent. Meal was served timely. I ordered a combo plate, chile relleno and taco. The chile Relleno was roasted and flavorful filled with Monterey Jack cheese and topped with a delicious spanish sauce, with onions and peppers. When I saw the taco, I was certain it would fall apart upon first bite. Surprisely it did not. The shell appeared too be too crispy, however it held up to every bite. Additionally the shredded beef was so delicious, roasted and plenty. As if this wasn't enough to delight, the rice was incredibly delicious, with a little diced carrot and peas, that were cooked just right, flavorful and firm. The beans, I do believe were refried in lard and were equally delicious. The beans were a little on the salty side for me, but no one else thought so. This is not Mexican american cuisine this is authentic mexican, with chile flavor that kicks in after a bite or two. Overall service, were not too attentive so fortunately I didn't require anything else. The margarita was also excellent. Why has no one rated this restaurant?

USA Yogurt

Best yogurt in Bakersfield hands down! Self serve. You can make it how you want. Nice atmosphere and very friendly service.

Tina Marie's Cafe

One of my favorite club sandwiches in town. My wife loves the cheeseburger too. The food is consistantly good as evidenced by the same faces eating there everytime I go in. I had a chili size in the winter and it was huge. The service is efficient and freindly and Tina Marie seems to never take a vacation; always there making sure everthing is just right.

Baja Fresh Mexican Grill

Baja Fresh is always a winner. I absolutely love their chicken tortilla soup, which comes with grilled chicken in a (I'm guessing) tomato-chicken broth flavored with cilantro, onions and with "noodles" made of tortilla strips (which hold up quite well in the soup). It's topped with cheese (queso!) and a couple fresh slices of avocado, which at first I thought was a strange thing to put in a soup until I tried it and realized how perfectly the taste of it balances with the soup. Another reason I like Baja Fresh is that it is a clean restaurant. Even in the mad lunch rush, they find a way to keep the place clean, which is a definate plus in my book. Plus, you can get out of there with a full stomach and having only spent $5. Yay! Now if they would only serve Mole Tamales.... mmmm or Chile Verde Tamales... mmm tamales....

Que Pasa Mexican Grill

When we want Mexican we go here. On a score from 1 to 10 I rate it 10 for food, service and atmosphere. Love their pico de gallo.

Red Robin Gourmet Burgers

Recently my daughter, granddaughter and I had the opportunity to dine at the Red Robin. It was wonderful. The food was out of this world and the service was of the best. Our server was so nice and friendly and helpful. This is a marvelous place to have an enjoyable lunch when shopping.

Dagny's Coffee

This is the best coffee shop in town. Very diverse crowd, great food, and the coffee is the best. No drive thru here, if you want fast food type coffee, go to the other place, if you want a real coffee experience as it should be, go to Dagney's.

I agree with Curt Dalton. I, too, work close by and have tried ordering via fax, email, and phone. More often than not my order is incomplete or lost entirely. The food is good, but the service is awful and the wait staff are rude.

Cafe Med

My all-time favorite Bakersfield restaurant! The food is exceptional (cold dill soup, Greek salad, ANY fish, ANY lamb). The Lemon Drop martini is the best in town. The wine list is exceptional. And the wait staff are always attentive and professional. I take all my out-of-town visitors here!
