This is a great place to go for lunch when you're really hungry and especially when you are in the mood for soup and salad. The buffet bar for the salad is rather large, double sided and includes just about anything you can imagine that would be good on a bed of greens. I was quite pleased that they serve French dressing there. They also serve strawberry lemonade, which is another favorite, as well as the usual soft drinks, tea, juices and water. You can find that they normally serve about 3 different soups and pasta with two different tomato sauces (usually one is a meat sauce and the other is a marinara style). The restaurant also features a dessert bar and a baked goods buffet where you can get fresh rolls, muffins and brownies. For dinner, I have been told that they serve chicken as well, but I have only been there for lunch so I do not know from personal experience. There are plenty of tables to be seated at, mostly booths, which is good because it is usually fairly busy there. To me, it hasn't changed noticably since the name changed about a year or so ago.

The best sushi I've had here in town. The chefs are really nice and the atmosphere is clean and friendly. The food is always very fresh. I love the Yellow Submarine roll - shrimp tempura wrapped inside a layer of short grain sushi rice, encircled with a yellow soy wrap and topped with fresh tuna, green onions and the secret sauce I've been trying to get the recipe for. This is a wonderful place to eat, and is always extremely busy at noon. Obviously it is well known how good this restaurant is.

First, the wait is ridiculous, we were informed that we should call ahead ... preferably the week ahead. I'm sorry but I don't plan my meals that far in advance, and it's been my experience that even if your name is on a list, you're still going to stand around.
Second, I went there with nothing but Peppered Steak on my mind, but by the time we were seated they were out! Apparently they prepare a limited quantity early in the day and then the prep cooks go home!?! Funny thing, an off duty employee was seated next to us and somehow they were able to "pepper up" a steak for him in spite of being out.
The food is pretty good but who do these people think they are? There are plenty of other steak houses in town.

After eating at an Applebee's in San Luis Obispo and enjoying the food and cleanliness of the restaurant we thought that this one would be the same. The food was okay but we were disappointed with the cleanliness. The table was sticky and smelled like it had been wiped with a dirty cloth. The silverware was wet within the napkin. I don't think that we will go back there which is a shame because we like other Applebee restaurants.

It is so nice to come here for a tasty microbrew and a meal. I love the tri tip salad and every time I go I try to find out how they make the salad dressing because it is AWESOME! I also love the Kern Crude Porter and it is so wonderful that you can get a growler or a "party pig" to take home! Awesome place!

This place is a fabulous and unique oasis in a world full of cafe chains.

I have been going to the Don Pericos restaurant in Rosedale scince it opened for bussiness . I have had nothing less than spectacular experinces there.

The food is always fresh and the service is second to none. The owners always make sure to come to the tables, ask how people are, make sure that both the food ,and the service were always the best.

My favorites include the Chilli Verde,Fajitas, and table-side made guacamole! .Actually all of the items on the menu I've tried are wonderful in both, presentation and taste.

What great food! I'm not usually a big fan of sushi, but my wife got the Sunset Strip roll and it was very good and beautiful. The salmon on the outside was incredibly fresh. I also got the tempura and salmon teriyaki and it was also wonderful. The service is very polite and attentive, and the food presentation is balanced and delicate. I think it would have been nicer if the other patrons actually dressed a little better. I actually saw someone there wearing coveralls. Maybe that *is* dressed up for this town, but in my opinion some of the other people eating there were very under dressed for a restaurant that charges $20-40 per person, but hey it's a free country.

If you don't like to wait, you can call ahead and they'll put your name on the waiting list before you arrive, so your wait is less when you get there. They also do take-out. Good bar and drinks, too.

Today, I had the opportunity to spend my lunch break at Ralene's Filipino Cuisine. With myself being of Filipino decent topped with forgetting my "baon" (Tagalog for lunch), I decided to give this place a shot. It is somewhat hard to find being that it is located far inside a small strip mall next to a pizza parlor. Inside, you will be greeted with kind employees and a buffet style set up. Ralene's is the definition of true authentic Filipino Cuisine. I, personally, love my food spicy thanks to my pepper hungry wife; unfortunately, today's lunch was far from spicy but still full of delicious flavor. BE SURE TO TRY THE HALO HALO Desert!!!!

I really like to take my kids to the Sugar Mill because the wait staff is very accomodating to little ones. The food is good and well portioned and the price is modest. It's much better than a Denny's and (I think) a little cheaper.

I had much the same experience as Mlackman..I rarely speak with managers, but felt compelled to seek him out on this one!
The service was awful!! Rare refills, lukewarm food, way too small portions for the price.
I ordered the quesadilla burger because it looked cool.. I peeked inside and like 1/4 of my burger was missing!
I used to go here atleast monthly (about 8 years ago? It was fairly soon after they opened) The service used to be great back then, I never had a complaint. This location seems to have gone downhill. I am very sad because this used to be one of my favorite places to go.

Pizza was very good with fresh toppings (we had a vegetarian) and the services was friendly. My only complaint is that the atmosphere is a bit shabby. Overall, very good, and I will be going back for more.

Tina Marie's is an honest diner with an All-American menu, huge portions, and friendly service.

I went in for breakfast and couldn't finish it all because there was just too much food. I had pork chops and eggs with biscuits and gravy. They gave me two large chops that were tasty, excellent hash browns, and the best biscuits and gravy I have had so far in Bakersfield. I highly recommend this restaurant.

                                    Better than KFC.

KFC must be eaten within fifteen minutes or it congeals into an inedible mass. Church's chicken, with a different taste and breading, kept rather well for leftovers. And the price is no comparison, beating KFC hands down by at least $2 for a comparable 12 piece meal for the gang. Service was quick and terse, but better than the slow and rude that I've come to associate with the White Lane/Ashe KFC. Whenever we run by the gf's 'rents place, we try to pick up a box. *Please* come to the southwest and save us from KFC and Popeye's!

Disappointment over going to a long tradition to Bakersfield, the former Hush Puppy, now the Le Courusse Rouge has fallen to the point where I finally have to say adieu.

My last meal there, the traditional all-you-can eat shrimp and chicken was so undercooked that the shrimp tasted like much, and I didn't eat all I could. I didn't want to. My girlfriend offered me a sample of her prime rib, which tasted more like pot roast. Dismal. I didn't want to write this, looking back at the memories over the years, but I can't overlook the fact that my last three trips there have been lackluster to awful. Sorry, but thank you for the memories.

Frst the waiter dropped the shrip and my companions sandwich but brings my steak and thinks i'm going to eat while my companion sits and watches me. The steak was no where near a 12 once strip steak that was listed on the menue.
I asked the waiter to take mine back and keep it warm until they could bring all the food back at once. A few minutes latter a new waitress comes up and says my waiter is on break. I explaned what was going on. They bring out my steak once again. No shrip and a bowl of chicken that no one had ordered. I again sent them back with all the food. Now is it 50 minutes since we ordered. They bring all the food out. Ok so lets remain calm and try to enjoy the evening. My companinon takes a bite of his sandwich and ..... there is a lable still stuck to the ham. I try to get my wiatress to notice me but she is busy talking along with 4 other staff members in the back of the restraunt. I rather loundly asked another server if there was a manager available. One came right over. Showed him the lable. He said they would make another right away. So i'm left to eat my steak alone. The manager brings another sandwich and i'm almost done with my dinner. A few minute latter the waitress comes with another sandwich. so they made 5 snadwiches to be able to serve 1. We had to ask for refils on Tea all the while employees were not more that 8 feet from us talking. The manager did take the sanwicha and the shrimp off the bill but i paid for the steak I had to eat alone. I paid the bill ....left NO tip and will never eat there again

Since new owners took over in aug 06, i feel that the Pyrenees has improved. they have added 2 value nights with $10 steak tuesdays ($13 with set up) and $10 baby back ribs on thursdays with set up. unlike the others that have set times for their dinners, the Pyreness has dinner hours from 5.30p to 9p, easier for those that cant get to dinner by 6p. They have became Angus certified beef carriers. they have opened for lunch on saturdays from 11a to 2p and have menudo on saturdays starting at 9a (and its good!) consistant every week. they have started with bands on saturday and sundays from 1p to 5p, i have been coming to have on a regular basis for the last 6 months and have found i like the flavor better than some of the other basque in the area. for those who have not experienced the Pyrenees lately, come check it out.

The food is pretty authentic to my surprise. This has been the only chinese/asian restaurant I have found it this entire town that actually tastes authentic. The soups (minus the pork) is extremely delicious. I always get the hot and sour soup or the salad to start. For dim sum I always get duck. And that duck is the correct way...the only way of peking duck. Nobody in town cooks duck as it should be except for GrandView. I love their mongolian beef and all the noodles. Place is awesome.

As an avid eater of middle eastern cuisine, I found the place to be up to par in taste. I always get the lamb kabob. The meat wasn't over cooked or under cooked in which I usually encounter in other restaurants when I order a lamb dish in general. I love the homos with the splash of shutta (i think that's how you spell it) as garnish. Everything was pretty authentic except how the rice was seasoned. This kind of rice is traditionally prepared with saffron..But then again it is fast food and gotta keep the costs down. Great place to eat though! It's nice to see international foods in town.

I often find myself choosing Starbucks over Dagny's simply because I cannot afford to wait for the counter help at Dagny's to stop gossiping with a "regular" and serve up my coffee.

I like the coffee but not enough to be late for work!

Lots of food! They cram too many tables together though... It doesn't bother me too much but for the price of the food I'd expect a little more room.

The menu doesn't have much selection if you don't get an appetizer or desert but it is great food.

This place is great for lunch, never had it for dinner but I believe the menu is the same. The meat is slow roasted on large stakes and everything is prepared in a small kitchen right behind the counter. I like their sandwiches and salads, tastes very authentic and is a pretty good value. Best of all, it is very fresh as they cut the meat off the huge piece right onto your plate.

Love their rolls, especially the fantasy roll. They have very unique dishes and everytime I go it is very fresh, which is very important for sushi. The service is good and sometimes lunch can get busy because it is a smaller restaurant, but still I like it. Same with dinner, might have to wait, but it is good japanese.

We tried PF Changs for the first time last month and it was kind of lackluster. The food was OK but what makes it less than great is that it is kind of expensive for what you get. For lunch, I paid 12 dollars for a single dish and it was just average.
Anyway, I think with other good Chinese in Bakersfield, this might not make my list of restaurants.

Great food and great value for the family. I had not been back for a few years after moving away but am back now and the entire family still likes going here. The food is great tasting and a great value. Always very fresh and very unique flavors. Best of all, the value is great. With all the new restaurants, it is good to try but some of them can get pretty pricey!
Service has been good whenever I go. I love their potstickers and wo won ton soup! Lots of vegetables and a lot of meat. I need to try some other menu items as my co-workers keep telling me to try this and that. Well, save that for next time!

even though I agree that the food quality and service isnt what it was when I was young I still like the place. It used to be my favorite place to go but sadly it isnt any more. But one of my favoite things about the place then and now is still the french bread, butter, and salsa that has stayed the same thank goodness!!!!!!! I always buy extra salsa when I go in. But it's been quite a long time now sadly, since i've been there. I also like the decor it hasn't changed and brings me back to my childhood. But yes it definetly needs some more comfortable seating or some re upohlstering? spelling? But i've always liked the way i'ts decorated since I was very young. I miss the old Sinaloas.

Poor service. Very unsanitary workers. I was very dissapointed here.
I stopped by on a 'hot and ready' tuesday.. figureing, good they have pizzas ready, I can just pick one up on my way home, I was there for 30 mins! I could have gotten home, ordered one, and had it delivered to me from another place faster than that! At a prime time (it was about 5:45pm) there were only 2 employees there, one I had no idea what they were doing,, in the back wandering around, not making pizzas, and one girl who was taking orders and making the pizzas (and not washing hands between prepping pizzas and taking money/touching cash register!) It wasn't too busy in there, but there are only about 3 seats in there, so there were a few people standing up waiting.

The food tasted fine, not the best pizza in the world but its pretty cheap.

I really hope this location gets some serious customer service and sanation practices training.

I had to update this, as this place has gone way downhill. The new interior is great, but the manager is the same uncaring, disinterested person as always, and her new crew is taking her demenor on themselves. I stood at the counter whilst five disinterested employees gossiped, texted, and split a bowl of ramen. The manager refused to come out to address another patron's issue that the store was kept too warm. Finally, the trays were not even washed after use in a three-compartment sink, but rather wiped down with a rag from the "sanitizing" bucket used for the tables.

If you *must* get food here, get it to go.

While the counter help is fast and friendly, the management is totally unconcerned with the customers in the store. The drive thru seems to be their end-all-be-all of their existence, and those who are not willing to idle their cars in an age of $3 gas pay the concequences. When many people are inside trying to order, and one person valiantly tries to help them all, one might think to call up additional help to the front end, but not here. 30 minutes passed before a single person was allocated to an additonal register, whilst four or five people were "assisting" with drive thru. In addition, our order was "lost", with the management going out of their way to shift blame on another customer, even though I was watching the whole time and never once saw anything remotly like my order bagged at the front end. 45 minutes is NOT fast food, and it seems a shame that an establishment I'd gone to for 30 years has fallen to the point that when I go to offer my concern, all I get is a repetition of the phrase "Well, if you take the pies, we think everything is all right." If one takes the time to offer constructive critisism, it should be taken gracefully, not brushed off. I recommend going just about anywhere but here.

TWO YEARS LATER:
You think that things might have changed, but after a nearly twenty minute wait in the drive thru for 2 drinks and 2 medium fries, with them messing up a drink, serving one box of old fries, and not giving us any straws... HDLC. Well, I gave them another chance after that pair of years, I guess I won't try again for another couple. GO ANYWHERE ELSE.

Lunch at Don Pepe's has become kind of an institution for me and the gang. For $6.50, you get a drink and the two-item platter that's a far sight better than Taco Bell. The food's not as spicy as some places, but does not lack for flavor. The tacos are a little on the small side, but are not shorted for filling. The enchiladas and tamales are wonderful, the guacamole and tea fresh. One could do far, far worse for a regular eatery so why not make such a nice place a stop for lunch once in a while?
