Twenty-three games into the season and the stats aren’t pretty: 5-13-5. Three straight losses. One victory in the last 11 games.
The Condors need to find a way to win and soon.
Forty-nine games remain to be played, but even if the Condors were to suddenly turn things around and go on a .666 percent winning streak (how likely is that?), it would take until mid-February to reach .500. And that’s without an overtime loss or shootout loss.
While there have been breakdowns in numerous areas, the spotlight is shinning brightly on the goaltending tandem of Jamie Hodson and Yutaka Fukufuji.
Not once have the Condors pitched a shutout. Only once have they limited a team to two goals. All of those were wins. Five times the Condors have allowed three goals. They are 0-4-1 in those games with two of the game-winning goals coming in the final 1:44.
Hodson is 1-9-5 (0-4 in shootouts) with a 3.44 goals-against average (33rd among 41 goaltenders in the ECHL) and .889...
