As we noted on the Bakosphere blog, KBAK is reporting that police are investigating Robert Rodriguez in the unsolved kidnapping and death of Jessica Martinez. Rodriguez was nabbed recently when he tried to kidnap a 4-year-old girl. This got the Breaking News Team juices going. We made some calls and it turns out that this item appears to be wrong. Bakersfield police Sgt. Greg Terry says at this point there is no link whatsoever between the two cases. He acknowledged there were some similarities in how they occured but emphasized that there is nothing to connect Rodriguez to the Martinez case.
