The LA Times did a story on sailor Cherie Morton over the weekend. It says she lived in Bakersfield for a bit, where she enlisted in the Navy. Which explains why the Department of Defense said that's where she's from, although, as the story explains, she was born in Illinois and that's where her parents are now. Just another piece of the puzzle that is this case. No word yet on how she died. --Chris George
