Report Violation

Are you sure you want to report the following content as a violation?
Okay, to the tune of "It's my party..." can we sing, "It's my fireplace and I can burn wood if I want to, I can burn wood if I want to." But the answer is that beginning Wednesday (Nov. 1), the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District will tell you what days you can burn wood, or not, until February. This is because we have bad air, some days worse than others, and the district in 2003 started a program of banning wood fires on really bad air days. When the air index is 151 or higher (those are really bad air days, and there was 16 days last year like that), you can't burn wood in your fireplace or you may be subject to a $50 fine. Burning wood is discouraged, but not banned on days when air is unhealthy for sensitive groups, 101 to 150. There were 19 of those days last year. The district issues a  daily wood burning status that can be obtained by calling 1-800-SMOG INFO or by visiting www.vallyair.org. Are you fine with helping...
