East Bakersfield vehicle pursuit This is a news release of the Kern County Sheriff's Office. Please do not contact the Sheriff's Communications Center. Date:  Thursday, October 02, 2008 Time:  5:31:47 PM Details:On 10-2-08, at about 2:55 P: M, Deputies from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Metro Patrol Division, attempted to stop a stolen vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 36 year old Johnny Travis, refused to stop and attempted to evade the pursing deputies. During the pursuit Travis sideswiped a school bus that was transporting two children. No one on the school bus was injured. Travis crashed the stolen vehicle at the intersection of Virginia and Washington. Travis and the passenger, (35 year old Irma Rosas 35) ran from the vehicle. Deputies set up a perimeter in the area and were able to locate the suspects with the help of neighborhood residents. Johnny Travis was arrested for grand theft auto, resisting arrest, evading a peace...
