Bakersfield Police Department news release For Immediate Release                Friday, October 31, 2008   Cornell Street Shooting   On 10/31/08, at 3:42 p.m. Bakersfield Police received a report of a shooting in the 2700 block of Cornell Street.   Prior to officers’ arrival, the victim of a shooting was transported to Kern Medical Center by private means.  The victim:   Gibram Guzman Burgara (23), of Bakersfield, suffered gunshots to his face and shoulder.  He is in stable condition.   The shooting appears to have occurred in the east alley of the 2700 block of Cornell Street.  There is no suspect information at this time.     The investigation is continuing.   Anyone with information is asked to call Bakersfield Police at 661-327-7111.
