A Bakersfield police officer received minor injuries late Saturday night when he was struck by a police patrol car as he chased a robbery suspect on foot.
The officer, whose name was not immediately available, was treated and released at a local hospital after he was struck as he ran after a suspected robber near 19th Street and Union Avenue, according to a Bakersfield Police Department release.
At about 10 p.m. Saturday, officers spotted Loren Trejo, 32, of Bakersfield, running across Union Avenue after he allegedly took money from a victim.
The injured officer gave chase on foot.
Another officer in a second patrol car struck the officer involved in the foot chase. The patrol car also hit the McDonald’s restaurant on Union, causing minor damages, police said.
Trejo was booked on suspicion of assault, robbery, and resisting arrest.
