PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE BAKERSFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT March 31, 2009 On Tuesday, March 31, 2009 the Bakersfield Police Department Traffic Enforcement Detail conducted a “Click it or Ticket” enforcement event where four officers targeted motorists in violation seat belt and child safety seat laws.  As a result of this enforcement event, 63 motorists were cited for safety belt violations during a four hour period. The Bakersfield Police Department Traffic Enforcement Detail will conduct these “Click or Ticket” enforcement events throughout this coming year.  Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.  The public is encouraged to help keep roadways safe by calling 911 if they see a suspected impaired driver.
