Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 0230 hrs. (2:30 a.m. PST) a 3rd alarm response from the Bakersfield FIRE Department and County Fire Dept., consisting of 6 Engines, 3 Trucks, 1 Light Engine, 3 Battalion Commanders, 1 Deputy Chief  and various support units responded to a report of structure fire at 2001 Haggin Oaks. First arriving companies reported heavy fire blowing from the roof of a 5,000 sq. ft.  home. The residents had evacuated the home prior to the fire department’s arrival. The first arriving BFD company officer called for an immediate 2nd alarm response which was upgraded to a 3rd alarm when a Chief Officer arrived. Multiple companies were ordered to enter the home and stop the advance of the fire. Fire had fully engulfed the attic and was now pushing flames 100 ft in the early morning sky.
