Lost Hills, CA – Sunday May 31, 2009 at approximately 2:44 P.M., a call was received by the Kern County Fire Department for a grassfire off Bitterwater Valley Road 4 miles south of Hwy 46. Approximately 70 firefighters responded to the incident from Kern County Fire Department and Bureau of Land Management.
Upon arrival, crews faced approximately 20 acres burning at a moderate
rate of spread. One home and two structures were threatened by the fire.
Crews worked to contain the blaze with hose lines from patrols, hand
crews, and assistance from aircraft water drops. Due to the fast actions
of fire crews, the fire was held short of the structures preventing any
property loss. The fire burned approximately 25 acres and was 100
percent contained as of 4:30 P.M.
