Down 2 games to none and appearing to be a team in total turmoil, the Bakersfield Condors have responded in spectacular fashion to take a 3-2 lead heading into Game 6 of their first round playoff series with the Fresno Falcons. Certainly, the odds now favor the Condors as Thursday night’s game, and Game 7, if necessary on Friday night, take place in the friendly confines of Rabobank Arena. But a mere three games ago the odds were stacked heavily in Fresno’s favor, which had thrashed the Condors 7-3 and 9-3 in the first two games. In fact, the Condors may forever be etched in the ECHL record book for allowing eight power play goals in the 9-3 drubbing. Ouch. Since then it’s been a different Condors team but the job is far from done. In best-of-seven playoff series, coaches tend to agree on two things: That Game 3 is often the most important (for determining the direction of a series) and that the fourth game is always the hardest to win.
