Jesus taught it is hypocrisy for anyone to say they love God while they hate their neighbor. In additon to that great lesson, I'd like to think Jesus would have equated saying hateful things about their neighbor with hating their neighbor. Some of his followers like to give themselves a pass because they only say it, but deny feeling it.
