One of my best friends is a nationally ranked martial arts competitor and instructor. He started in special forces in the Army and continued throughout his life. Of all the people I have ever met in my entire life he has the most even, "non-flappable in any situation" disposition of them all. I have often wondered if it is the SF training or Martial Arts. I suspect a combination of the two (and other life experiences) but I'm sure the MA has a lot to do with it. When a person knows how to really handle themself in weaponless defense, it gives them an air of serenity that is unmistakable. I've never known anyone who was really good in MA of any kind that was a bully.
