My favorite bookstores are Goodwills and the one downtown has a huge book section.  Next to that, Barnes &  Nobles because it has a big selection of local history books.  Then there's the gift shop at Pioneer Village for that too.   For straight up reading I prefer fiction.  Suspense, intrigue, espionage, Middle Ages, Victorian Ages, early CA or most quasi history.  I live "stuff" every day so when I read, it's to be in another place, another time, and with people who fit a certain character.  I don't like "chick" books, fluff books, or books written in first person.  I had a fondness for some light mystery books  ...one called the Southern Sisters series..just because they were funny and I liked the characters....and another one Called the Alpine series...same reason. With no book on hand, I'll read any magazine out of boredom, a few from interest, and, out of serious boredom I'll read cereal boxes or toilet paper wrappers.  If I'm still for long, I'm reading something.
