ChicaEsquela, I do read my syllabus, thank  you.  And if you have never had a syllabus that lacks actual detail, then you must be new to a University.  My syllabus does not have dates or assignments listed, they are assigned at the end of class.  If I would have had president's day off, I probably would have had a bar-b-q with family and most likely have had an in depth discussion about which president was the best for our country with my stubborn uncle. Money talks, I read that story and it is outrageous.  They stay in school on President's day so they don't interupt classes?!  What about Memorial Day?  What about Veteran's Day?  I guess they don't?  Also, the story said that they leave it open so that we can have Christmas Eve off?  I guess it says that they can close the campus Christmas eve if we stay open for Pres.
