Students Prove Theories at Kern County Science Fair The caption below is incorrect and was attached to my daughter's picture in the story about The Kern County Science Fair. Actually in many of the science fair projects students hypothesize one thing but through their data and trials find out that their hypothesis is incorrect. This is part of the learning process and does not make their science fair project a poor one. Many scientists hypothesize one thing but have a completely different outcome and they can learn about more this way. (The project my daughter worked on was not showing how algae could reduce acid rain but, the affect of acid rain on the algae cellular structure.) In turn we found out that algae could help reduce CO2 from large power plants and be turned into biofuel reducing the need for fossil fuel, which is what creates acid rain.
