I have three in laws who are police officers. Every working day is an exercise of restraint for them. It is demoralizing when the good guys have a breakdown of discipline, we expect them to be above over reaction. I don't think I'd last 30 minutes on the street as a cop. Just too many jerks out there for my temperament. Bottom line after all is said, I'd rather take my chances with a cop in a bad mood than an armed gang-banger looking for prey.
