28. Abortion. Because the right to life is the most basic of all rights, and because unborn children are particularly innocent and defenseless, abortion retains a special priority among life issues. No life ethic that ignores the unborn's right to life can be called consistent. A consistent life ethic demands that the disciple grasp that the threat to life is found in many places.
