Pethaven:  Reminds me of a very, very old movie entitled -- what else?  "Rain."  If my creaky memory is not too creaky, the author of the book or story on which the movie was based was W. Somerset Maugham.  Rain had straggled travelers in a lodge; the character interactions were electric.  Getting back to your poem -- sorry my mind strayed so -- we've all been there; I've been there today.  Steady, slow, non-stop, soaking rain.  I don't hear any fireworks.
